If we can't get outside I'm going to kill one of my kids.

Make sure it's the fastest one so you get some decent exercise in while chasing them.

Not the chubbiest to fill out the freezer?

You'll get him eventually, so may as well save him/her to when you're low on energy as well.

Sounds like you've been through this before???

  • @Bones

I should also add I was there at about 07:30 in the morning for an hour or two so trying to be on the earlier side.

Means I didn't even see it at its worst

  • I'm walking a lot - about 20-25 miles a week. We are pretty isolated so often don't see anyone which is a big plus with self-distancing.

Slight medical condition means no more daily press-ups/
squats sessions for a week or two (I'm the furthest thing from a gym-bunny imaginable..

  • I'm cycling to work. After 4 weeks I reckon I'll have clocked up several hundred metres!!

Actually I am cycling to work which is 12 kms each way. Plus my normal walking. Factor in the pubs are closed I will be shedding the kg's.

  • Didn't see this thread originally: was in the fitness thread which I don't subscribe.

For why it's worth I parked the gym last week. Taken to early morning walks instead.

20mins from here to beach, 20 mins along then return.

Serious design fault on the return leg being rather steep hill. Which is kinda good but not enjoyable.

Issue is it's outside, without aircon, and this morning, in the rain... waiting for it to clear...

But that wonderful feeling when you crest the hill and the burning sensation changes to a self-righteous glow..

    Cruel. Very cruel.

  • For those with kids cooped up, Joe Wickes morning fitness which is live at 9am UK time, and then available on youtube is fantastic.

Kids love it so it keeps them entertained for 30 mins or so, and they get some exercise first thing in the morning.

    Highly highly recommend.

  • For those of you who don't know my wife is a PT. She's basically lost her job as she knows it but she and the gym owners are industrious types. So they've been looking at the whole online thing. Not before having their hopes raised and demolished first though.

Scomo said on Tuesday that 10 ppl could train together for PT and boot camp sessions, in parks. The gym has a loyal following and there were a lot of members keen to keep the gym open to a point. The very next day the local government closed all the parks...

But the online thing seems to be working. She does work out every day and then posts it to anyone that has purchased a newly created app for her gym. It seems to have worked after the first day of buy-ins. Is anyone here using a similar app or doing the online thing? I'm guessing it's more of a thing for women.

My mate is dating a PT and she's doing this, but I think they do it on some kind of subscription Youtube link.

My main exercise is walking and the odd gym session in my building, so I'm actually getting more exercise since WFH, walk in the morning before starting work, then walk mid afternoon and then work until 6ish.

I do the plug of referring to the start post of this thread.

My son does online PT programs and has set up a starter 'at-home' package for people to try. https://www.wiredcoaching.com
He is flat out at the moment adjusting programs for existing personalised program clients.

Also the gym he works out of is running their group classes via Zoom. The PTs are taking it in turn to go to work and livestream a workout. I think it is for existing members but you could always sign up for a trial. https://www.mybounce.co.uk/virtual-timetable

  • @Crucial yeah gonna look at your son's stuff next week...

  • @JK said in Covid-19 and keeping fit:

Yeah mine too. Gonna take up beach running i think......

It happened - went for a farken run last night on the beach. Wow it had been a while but nothing changes, can still kinda run but still kinda hate it! Short ride today at lunchtime and run again tomorrow (maybe)

  • Did a video call workout yesterday with my gym bro. Worked really well!! Awesome to talk shit and train. Found a bunch of stuff around the property I could use. Bricks, a bit of concrete pipe and a full bbq gas cylinder that I could put a dowel through the handle for curls!
We did super sets with 30sec breaks, and about 90sec between each combo. Sore today!!

  • @Paekakboyz what exercises in the ss?

  • @Bones we did 3 rounds of each of the following
Planks + push ups 30sec plank and 10 push ups
Bodyweight squats then lunges. 10/5/5 for reps
    Curls + dips 15/15
    Squats and lunges repeated
    Planks and push ups ditto
    Curls and dips again
Then 3 more planks to finish. Done in about 45min with a couple of drinks breaks.

Cardio got me in the second half lol.

We are doing a chest and arms workout as a trio tomorrow and I've got a legs challenge going with a friend from work. So we are going to do squats, lunges, etc on sat.

Can't recommend it more, esp if you have a regular crew.

  • @Paekakboyz cheers! Be interested in the chest and arms exercises too!

  • @Bones I'd cycle through some push pull type super sets. Stuff like...

    • Curls/dips or tricep kickbacks if you have weights
    • Flys and some form of chest press, if you have dumbbells you are set.
    • Close grip dumbbell press, hitting the triceps, then standing shoulder press
    • push ups, elevated feet if you are feeling saucy, then diamond push ups to destroy your triceps.

I'd probably throw in some planks or have 2min rest breaks between sets, as it's all upper body.

If you have a good 10m runway walking overhead extensions are mean af. Say 10kg DB held overhead and doing that 10m walk. If you are finding that easy do 4-6 reps if shoulder press at each stop.

Easy alternatives to rep range is do descending sets non-stop 8, 7, 6, 5 etc. Or if you do three super sets of the above build the reps through 1 and 2 and go till failure (success!!!) on the last round.

  • @Paekakboyz yesterday me and the kids did a 75m circuit outside...

    1st cone - 15 star jumps
    2nd cone - 15 burpees
    3rd cone - 15 press ups
    4th cone - 40 mountain climbers
    1st cone - 14 star jumps
    2nd cone - 14 burpees
    3rd cone - 14 press ups
    4th cone - 40 mountain climbers
and so on down to 1, except Mountain climbers, stayed at 40

will probably just sit on the rower today.

  • Three way today! Arm pump is real!! Found some 6kg DBs under the house so it was all about volume. Pretty much sets of max reps over 30sec. Brutal!

you lucky fluffybunny! does your wife know yet? And isn't that a bit dangerous in the current climate?

You need to full story! Not so lucky if three dudes. In fact, painfully unlucky!

  • Just found out my gym is doing Zoom online classes for the WODs. That should be fun šŸ™‚

  • @Hooroo that made me LOL šŸ¤£šŸ˜ØšŸ˜ØšŸ˜ØšŸ˜Ø

  • Ok, it was a sausage fest but hey, I'm getting on that prison workout vibe. But not the prison sex aspect lol. Unless we're talking TOOL!!

  • Been running and walking a bit around here in QT, but the police are pretty imposing. Wife went for 2 walks today and got stopped both times, asked for ID and address details.

    you are always talking tool

  • @mariner4life fucking A!

Who knows how long till my next live gig! šŸ˜·šŸ˜©

  • Well, whatever I'm doing I lost 5kg since yesterday ...

... I think the scales may need a new battery ...

  • we have a decently long steep drive then a set of about 20 steps to the front entrance (Mt Vic so unsurprising) which I walk up and down about three times a day - it's not much but with my knees it's good enough - the hard part as with all knee injuries is actually the impact on the downhill. I'm not a huge fitness guy these days - 1 and a bit lungs means I have no endurance.

  • Corona fitness update

Actually going well so far. Have got back in to running and doing a beach run every 3 days. On other two days Iā€™m trying to get a ride in and have set up some strava segments near by. Wife has also put me through a couple of pilates sessions - mainly working on abs and glutes which are two of my weak points

Running is going better than expected - did 5km first time and 6km the next.Running on the beach so not fast (around 5.30 km pace) but prob better for my knees. Will try add distance before pace I think.

Also 100 pressups every day - 5x20 this week. 4x25 next

Similar here - I'm a little ahead of you on the running progress as I've been unemployed for a few months! Managed 10km on the road/gravel today at 4:45 pace, keen to get down below 4:30 pace for 10km before lockdown is over.

I've also started the 100 pressups per day. I'm typically 30/20/20/20/10!

  • Nice!!!!

Wife just said we starting a 30 day challenge tomorrow for pilates....neat

  • @JK that sounds harder than running....!

  • I been doing Circuit stuff with the kids...

Have a track which is 65m round, daughter who is pretty inactive been doing 20 laps, already knocked 2 mins off her first time, so that is its own encouragement!

I did one today (farken hot too) 10m bear crawl, 10 jump squats, 30 mountain climbers, 10 push ups and 4 laps of track...did that 6 times šŸ˜Æ

Was a bit easier than the one yesterday which had burpees, they suck.

  • @taniwharugby burpees are disgusting things, should be banned! šŸ˜¬

  • Oh, and after playing golf for 30 years or so, finally found some time to work on my short game with 20/30m pitched #chipping #putting #driveforshowputtfordough

  • Mrs TA goes back to the office tomorrow, so I'm working from home for the 10th day in a row with the kids doing school.

Every break between lessons, I'm going to get them to do some body weight stuff - no more than 3 minutes - to start toning up their lazy asses, and mine!

Nothing too strenuous - just taking advantage of a universe where I can have close contact to instil some basic technique. Miss 12 isn't so bad as she usually does dancing 6 hours a week, but the boy... fittest thumbs on the planet from PS4.
