MN5's New Mission
-
Old thread of mine was getting a bit tired so like others on here I'm gonna change things up quite a bit. My name is MN5 and I haven't done weights for a few months......but strangely enough have become quite hooked on bodyweight stuff ! Some of this is down to the fact my garage Gym looks like a fucken bomb has hit it but the rest is down to doing a bit of research and changing it up. The late Davidav ( late as in I don't think he's a ferner anymore ) gave up weights and he used to be quite the lifter.....I'm gonna be focusing on Push ups, Pull ups, Burpees, Dips and all of that with a whole bunch of variation ( ie incline push up handstands, REALLY wide pull ups etc ). I'm also gonna really crank out some lower arm strength stuff with the metal heavy grippers I inherited years ago. Bending a frying pan would be pretty cool after all. As Bart has drilled into us this is all very pointless if I'm eating shit so I've really focused on staying away from the processed food as much as possible and lately if I've had to drink I've chosen Red Wine. The waistline is thanking me for it.

Forgot to mention, looking at doing some running too, have I gone completely mad ?
-
you need to do more than look at doing some running, you need to actually DO running! Wellington has lots of hills doesnt it....

Um yeah one or two pal, they should build some character in me ! -
Run the other day went well, lungs felt decent going up a few hills, dropped my phone as I was timing myself though, stink !!!! legs a bit sore afterwards.
-
Some decline or incline ( ie feet on the dining room table ) push ups for a bit of variation. 3 sets to reach 100 reps in total, pleased as punch about that although I know the upper chest will be feeling it. Legs suitably recovered for a run tonight too.

Didnt know these had a stop watch on them!
Very, very good from you smartarse........ <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/knuppel2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':knuppel:' /> It's funny cos it's not that far from the truth.....

Latest in my "feats of strength to try and impress people" is handstand push ups. Can't do these freestyle as it were but pretty adept at them with the legs balancing on the wall. These are rather brutal, hard to bust out too many and toying whether I am gonna put a vid up on FB or not.....

Go on big fella!

Might wait to see when ( or if ) I can do em without wall support ! -
Have to manfully admit that on video evidence they aren't quite hand stand push ups more "really, really steep decline push ups" still hard, still tough on the shoulders yet still feel great. Loving my new training regime. All booked in to have my "gait" analysed and get some new wheels soon so that'll be cool as I'll be stepping up the running.
-
So busted out some skull crushers for the first time in ages the other day while cleaning out the garage and did a PB despite not having done em for fuck knows how long ! guess the old handstand push ups that aren't really handstand push ups have been helping. Fuck the old tri's hurt for days after them though, yikes.

Repetitive training can dull your edge through muscle fatigue. Better to keep it to a couple of sessions a week and crank hard for 20 minutes.

With the running, keep changing it - fartlek is great, especially if you're in a hilly area, or you can do hill sprints - sprint up, walk back. I love getting a sprint on during a running session... right until I have to go back to actually keeping it above 11km/h afterwards!
-
Dude where I live there is no shortage of hills even by Wellington standards, not a problem there in the slightest !

OK, so no shortage of hills. No shortage of fat. Summer coming soon. Let's see some hill <strike>sprinting</strike>walking. I'm not expecting much in the way of pull ups though, TBF. ;)

The best post was the OP and workout intentions. In April. Body weight stuff-excellent. Since then MN5 has been keeping his workouts a secret. Update?
-
Bit of a weird post Kea, never realized I had no shortage of fat, thought I was looking pretty trim actually.

Shit, sorry if I was wrong, just being a smartarse and making a joke, which may have not been funny. Good luck with your workouts.
-
No probs pal, need to be more proactive in actually putting them up here to be fair.
