Solid thread diversion... This was my ride at uni, a bargain at $350 - though consumed about $50 of gas to get between Welly and Palmy!
I remember getting 17 mates inside for the trip from Massey down to town at Easter Tourney in 1997...in hindsight, maybe not my finest hour...
-
@voodoo my first ride, probably around the same time. You're lucky you never pulled up next to me at the lights....
-
-
@voodoo maaaate I could fit a couple of mates and boards in that puppy, or a good half a dozen passengers if going to a party. Or just not even bother taking a tent if going camping.

This was my first car. I got to drive it 2 times and then it was sold to my auntie..

@taniwharugby the fuckers never go to sleep fast enough though!
go to sleep! i wanna watch stuff on TV that's violent and also has tiddies!
I feel that pain but more because I want to give the Mrs one and not have to worry if the punk son is still awake these days.
My daughter is an adult splits her time between home and her bf parents house. Sheβs never home in the weekend which I like. But soon to be teen son is a fucken night owl and his room is next to ours - with our next house I could give 2 shits about a pool or deck. Itβs all about the distance the kids rooms are from mine. Iβve spent far too much money on wd40 this past year.
Jesus mate. WD40? You could at least splash out for KY.

Nice! Is that a Honda Prelude? I had a 198? Cream Honda Accord as my first car. 11k's to the litre and I never saw the fuel gauge above 1/4 tank 99% of the time.
super reliable.
yup! Cream
-
@Hooroo yup it was a 1990. It was bought for me as a first car but then my auntie got divorced and needed a car for her and her son....I was fucking spewing. Got a Subaru RS after that
-
@voodoo that is awesome and if it was here in OZ it would be worth a 2 bedroom house in the sticks.
My mates bought a Kingswood station wagon on the last day of school for $500 to go to the Mt for the holidays.
We took it for a blat before we all agreed to put $100 in. Column shift and it rose 12 inches at the nose when we got to about 80km. I decided not to hand over a hundy choosing to hang out in Wellies for the holidays. Good thing too as the boys only made it to Wairoa. But that car would be worth $10000-$15000 now in the condition it was in then.

Quality! I had no idea they were so valuable these days! We sold ours with a really shifty transmission (we were open about it), felt like it was on the verge of falling apart. So many good memories though. We drove the thing from Welly to Queenstown once, up the mountain and everything. The gas probably cost us more than flying π
-
@raznomore bro your auntie saved you from being a prelude creep! You'd probably still be driving it past high schools at 3pm...
-
@Bones this is so true! The 2 guys I knew that had them were sleazy as anything. One graduated to an MR2 and the there went on to be the proud owner of a high ace van..
-
1969 Mini Cooper with a metre long gear stick. Sold my brother's guitars for it.

Yeah Iβve fucked it up. Trying to find 4012 where I put them instead of 4016 .... and itβs tee off time now ... so Iβll be back to sort in around 115 shots ... unless one of the other mods who knows what the fuck they are doing us willing to sort .....

My first ride was Tracey. Oh, cars?
1984 KB Laser. 5spd manual. 54(ish) kw of fury. Copper bronze (poo brown) in colour.
Kept it stored for years with the intent of restoring it. Reality dawned on me and it become scrap.
-
My cuzzie gave me my first car - 84-85 Toyota Corolla Seca. Loved it with the liftback boot. Was efficient as too.
-
Mk 1 Ford laser sport. Nice and peppy, loved that car until it got stolen
-

@Toddy I rolled mine, what did you do?
Edit: Nice pic. GL by the looks of it. 1.3 or 1.6?
-
1.3. Rolled mine too.
Was a great first car. I remember driving down the motor way and changing into 3rd when the fucking gear stick came completely off. Clutch was fucked by the time I got home.
-
@antipodean My first car was a Laser as well. 1983 metallic gold colour.
