@Bovidae Julia Dean and Fur Patrol
This led me to discover that Julia is still making good music and looking quite milfy too!
Also in the good lookers basket Fiona McDonald and Headless Chickens (love her stuff with Strawpeople as well)

@MiketheSnow ah man I needed to hear that today! Used to love ole Bic in the 00s. I do a pretty good impression of her singing Sway too but I will spare you all. Defo going to binge on Bic later.

@Crucial Phil Judd is NZ's answer to Syd Barrett.
Brilliant talent but some serious problems...
Yep, always liked Counting The Beat.
Phil's parents owned a dairy shop in Frederick Street, Hastings - opposite Mahora Primary School.

It's funny as just last night I was pondering who my favourite singer is (not necessarily my favourite band) and I couldn't go past Dave Dobbin.
I have been through this thread and one song I have always loved is "Not Given Lightly" by Chris Knox. I'm not sure if it has been mentioned.
There was a band, from Wellington, I think, when I was at Uni, had some cracking songs. One of them started with the riff from Smoke on the water and just before the lyrics kicked in, the went "SIIIIIIIKE!!!!" and started singing "New Kids on the block, don't give up your day jobs"
We often went to Banshee Reel concerts and our flat had their album.
I'm stuffed if I can remember the name of them though.

Sad story behind that too, Pauly Fuemana the man behind OMC he made a crap ton of money from that song. Went pretty high in the US Billboard charts, but he was taken advantage of by family and friends. Pretty much died broke, young too.
