Lots of DC news this weekend.
Battfleck returns in the Flash, along side Keatons Batman. Trailers dropped for the Synder Cut and it looks amazing
As does the new Batman film.

syder cut - its mad they can have what looks like a completely different film largely from existing footage...hope they re do cavill's mo....that was the final straw with the original for me
i'll watch Batenson, looks a bit more gritty with trying to be the "real" world like Nolan did, will be cool, if there is a bit of "the worlds greatest detective" in there rather than just another bashathon, those look like jokers henchmen?...are we getting another joker?
not a huge fan of millar's flash...but using it to get some connection between some of the many different versions of batman could be cool
and wonder woman just looks fun again, watch the first one the other night and it was still fun on rewatch

Synder had filmed five hours of footage before he had to leave production due to his daughters death. He had a rough cut assembly ready for cgi and post production.
Whedon was hired and filmed even more footage and changed the entire story, and cut stuff. That’s what led to the moustache bollocks.
Not one frame for Whedons reshoots are being used.
And yes, the new Batman is leaning more on the detective angle, which will be a nice change. No Joker in this, also a good move.
-
@Kirwan yeah, i know the story...but five hours of footage is huge, makes you think the script wasn't really locked down...which i guess suggests why wheedon redid stuff if he couldn't see where snyder was going for...or possibly snyder wasn't 100% sure what he was going for at the time he left production
didn't mean a joker in this film...that would have leaked...but are they hinting at another one, white face paint with big red lips...

WB executives wanted a two hour film so they could have more screenings.
Synder was aiming for, I think, just under three hours. Consistent with his other films, slightly longer
The film was supposed to be centred around cyborg who got almost completely cut.
-
I mean, you hear about films with lots of footage but its different versions of the same or similar scene's....not five hours of different stuff
i wonder how much stuff whedon shot, so what the total for one film was
-
Synder knew where was going, he outlined the plot for JL2 and the Flash and Green Lantern. He was laying the groundwork for all of that.
Shame we won’t see all of that now.

Have seen some crazy numbers from the cinematographer that a large amount was reshot.

No one will beat Brando for film shot for a movie, he went nuts for One Eyed Jacks

So no theatrical release for Snyder’s Justice League, only streaming on HBO Max?

I've convinced my real life Hack Snyder fluffer friend to pay for my ticket and some junk food otherwise I wasn't going to rewatch - so I hope it goes to cinemas for that reason alone.
I hope I fall asleep midway through to really piss him off.
-
wont be getting HBOmax just to watch it
-
@Kirwan Did you watch any of the DCEU-con panels? Do you know if they were free?
-
...and Black Adam...dont know about this one
-
@Kiwiwomble hadn't seen that one yet, thanks.

Here's another video with some behind the scenes footage.
-
@Kirwan Did you watch any of the DCEU-con panels? Do you know if they were free?
Just watched the coverage, been too busy.
No cinema release, hopefully after the HBO Max it'll be out on Bluray.
Maybe they'll do a limited cinema run? A roadshow style one, because as much as I don't like Snyder's style, visually, they're definitely movies to be seen in the theatre.
-
@Nepia yeah, dark and moody so my tv doesn't really show it we'll...nothing happens during the day in the DC universe

Eventually, maybe. But they are using this drive interest in yet another streaming service. Maybe it'll be used similarly to relaunch struggling cinemas after COVID
-
@Bovidae James Gunn is so perfect this sort of movie.

I’m not sure if that will work out too well, I tend to think that most of the DC fans who would get HBO Max would already have it since they’re ditching the DC app and moving everything there anyway.
They really should concentrate on their catalogue of HBO shows. I nearly signed up to yet another streaming service this week to get access to those shows in Oz (as they’re on fox who have launched yet another streaming service called Binge for this type of stuff).

Is this a new movie or a remake of the first one? I really liked the first one
Soft reboot, so a half sequel with some of the same characters but lots of new ones (that will pobably die)
Lot of characters there. So yeah, a fair few expendables.

i didn't recognise many of the characters so looked up a couple, also a firefly/nathan fillon fan....he's playing an original character....one made for the film....seems weird

Knowing their history I assume there is an inside joke in that

Rumours are going around that HBO Max want a Battfleck movie and also a TV show.
Important to note that HBO Max is a seperate entity from Warner Brothers. WB are the ones that didn't want to release the Snyder Cut.
Both are owned by AT & T, and both can start their own projects. From all sources, the Synder Cut was a massive success for HBO Max (so much so they crashed their servers with the demand).
Apparantly the CEO of HBO Max is a fan of the Snyderverse, and sees there is an audience out there for it.
Hope it's all true, people that have read the Ben Affleck Batman script really liked it. Now he's sober, he may be willing to jump in again. Less pressure and interference doing it streaming first.
-
@kirwan id watch it
i know the nolan batman movies are great movies in general....but it was too close to reality for me...someone like darkseid rocking up in that world or even some of the heros....would just look weird to me
and i liked Batfleck, he aligned with the batman i know so i would love to see a snyderverse/batfleck film

seemingly confirmed, who is going to do the multiverse better? Spiderman or the Flash

Multiverse (or infinite earths) already happens in the CW DCEU with Flash being a key.
I always think these are just ways to get out a corner you have painted yourself into by killing a character (or lots of characters)
-
@crucial yeah, i was more meaning how well the different EU's will do it, they both have road maps from the comics but i think the movie going public is less forgiving than comic readers
-
Multiverse has been part of these comic stories for decades. It's just a device to let you tell elseworld stories, or have Batman working with Batman. It's fun.
-
@kirwan I'd genuinely want to see a Batfleck movie directed by Affleck. I'd rather it came out in the movies than on HBO Max as there's less chance he goes Snyder on it.

Movies Affleck has directed so far haven’t been too long, whereas that’s a Snyder trademark.
Yeah, I know, I hope his filmaking style hasn't been infected by Snyder is my point.
