Argentina One: Parramatta, 14 November
-
Moody, Coles, Laulala, Tuipoluto, Whitelock, Frizell, Cane, Savea, Smith, Mo’unga, Clarke, Goodhue, Lienart-Brown, Ioane, B. Barrett
Smith to play 80 minutes.
-
Cane/Sotutu/Ioane
Savea on the bench

I'd like to see that combo tried in one of these 2 tests.
What is the update on Laulala's paternal leave?
-
@ACT-Crusader I find it disconcerting when you post an actual team.
Swap out Frizell for Akira, swap ALB and Goodhue around and you've got my team.

Is he O.K?
Thrown my whole day off. There are only four Crusaders in there. 2020 is seriously fucking with some peoples heads.

I think they need to give the 12-Goodhue 13-ALB another good run.
Don’t mind the Akira for Frizell call given Frizell got the first 3 Bledisloe tests.
Given Savea got a week off in Bled 3, I think he will start.
-
Seems strange to go back to the top team - they should switch out two/three players to see what they can do - I’d give Akira and Jordan starts with Ardie and Roane off the bench.

That's what should have happened last week. It just feels like they don't know what the top team is. Not the first time this has happened.
R and R didn't work for Ted either, if that is the excuse.

given this would appear to be what they see as thier preferred pairing.
Was interesting to note a number of times Laumape & ALB were set either on either side of the ruck (attack and defence) or Laumape outside ALB a few times too.

Agreed. I understand the methodology applied for Sydney - they wanted to win the Bledisloe so their best possible team took the field. The problem with introducing guys/ resting others is there were too many changes for Brisbane and some of the experienced heads didn't have their best outings.
The remainder of the TN should have minimal changes but allow debutantes to get quality time on the field.
-
I think cane deserves a rest and have savea,Ioane and sotutu starting in the back row

Agree with that - put in a helluva shift. Backrow of Akira, Savea, Sotutu.
Weber to get 20 minutes if any of you are serious about replacing TJP.
-
Anyone in Sydney going along? I'm considering getting a cheap seat just for the spectacle.
-
Yeah, cane was injured not that long ago, four big shifts, time for a break
-
If Ofa were suspended for a week, Is Nepo back? If not who would be first TH cab off rank in Mitre 10? Know Bower and Karl can play there but think I'd prefer a specialist.

Smith to play 80 minutes.
Can't argue with that. I am guessing Fozzie still thinks Jordie is his first choice wing but he is due for a rest anyway.
-
@DMX is laulala available or is he still in Nz waiting for birth of his child? If in Nz then lomax be starting and bower on the bench as he can play tight or loose head prop
-
We also haven't had an update on Jordan. But if he failed his HIA he won't be available for selection in this game.
-

Given his history they should be extra cautious. He shouldn't play again until Super Rugby

I don't think he'll be back - but the return to play protocols can be satisfied in a week I thought? I have memories of folk going off for HIA, but then being back the week after.
That said, I'm with @Duluth, think he should take the time out and come back at Super next year
-
@nzzp yeah I think they can fail an HIA in game but pass the rest during the week and be selected to play, similarly there have been ones passed in-game but failed the subsequent follow ups (delayed obviously)

i cant imagine how hard it is being a professional rugby player in nz at the moment, your a wing with AB's aspirations so you ask your coach to keep referring to you as a fullback just so fozzie will notice you

This our first ever test in Parramatta?
-
@Machpants definitely at this stadium as its brand new
-
Last time we played out Western Sydney didn't go so well did it?
-
@Kiwiwomble @Machpants fucking nice arena too - been to a couple of Tahs games there and the views are great as well as the architecture.
EDIT: only thing it probably lacks is closer rail transport - they've got buses running right past. It is only 1.3km from the nearest train tho.

That's a deliberate ploy to keep lazy fat fuckers away so they can fit more seats in

Also true!
The best thing Parramatta could have done was run a ring service light rail up that street to the stadium, then turn down into North Parramatta and back over the river.

Luckily it's not that far west. What a shocker that game was. Thanks Laurie!

I didn’t realise it was that long a walk - didn’t seem that long when I did it but we stopped at some shops and to have a bite to eat along the way.
-
@Nepia Bavarian Bier Cafe is kind of halfway.
-
@Bovidae Yep couple on debut five or six others that had played a handful of games at most and a couple of grizzled veterans that were past it.
Six I think never played for the AB's again after that tour. Lam being the "standout".

Good question, to be honest had assumed yes but your suggestion makes sense if not.
-
Earlier game time this weekend.
Kick off at 5pm Sydney time/7pm NZ time.

Couple of things I remember from that game, Darren Junee who ended up playing league scoring a hatrick for Sydney and Marc Ellis playing centre...
@NTA might be able to confirm but I think Junee came back to play club rugby after his stint with the Roosters.

That's another thing i like about it - no late night for this old bloke 😉
But that's just after 3am in Buenos Aires...
-
@KiwiMurph nice, might turn the tv around and watch whilst sitting in the sun!

I believe you're right. A few have done that for a bit of a trot with mates or an old club.
Note for those referencing "Western Sydney" - Bankwest Stadium in North Parramatta is only 7km west of ANZ as the crow flies.
ANZ is 15km west of the CBD. To the Rugby People in Sydney, both stadiums are "West". As fuck.

Helpful map of rugby in Sydney (Bankwest excluded except for 2-hour bursts a couple times a year)
