A super aggressive Ben Simmons scores 42 against the Jazz. It was an interesting game with the 76ers looking the goods in the 1st without Embiid.
Then Jazz went on a tear with Clarkson (and Ingles) for the next two quarters. Then in the 4th the 76ers looked like they could peg it back but then the Jazz were too clinical to close the game out.
Iโm not a Jazz fan, but they do play decent team ball. Playoffs will be interesting after last years disappointment.
Simmons is super grumpy that Devin Booker is honing out his ex Kendall Jenner and they're now Instagram official.

how shocking. i am shocked.

Pleased to see all my Suns #1 jerseys have put Devin Jenn...I mean Booker on the list.
-
@Bovidae some interesting data but not surprising given Iโve seen many kids (and even adults) wear the Ball Wollongong jersey.
Also Ballโs jersey isnโt available in stores like Rebel Sport or the local sports shop like Lebron or Simmons, that they have to go to NBA store to get it.

Speaking of your Suns, what a second half from Harden and the (KD and Kyrie-less) Nets today to be the Suns after the Suns dominated the 1st.
-
watching the Lakers v Nets game
When you are used to watching the NBL with its "all hustle" style, NBA defense is so shit at times.
The Nets had the ball, Harden kinda jogged in to the arc then casually dumped the ball backwards to an unmarked Net who drained an unchallenged 3 while the Lakers all sort of stood around and watched it happen.
I get that they play a lot of games, but players take a lot of plays off at one end too.
holy fuck! and then then you watch guys with big names draw the softest fouls!
-
This game is LBJ v a team in white spamming 3s
LeBron's spin and fadeaway is fucking lethal.
-
@mariner4life itโs all upper body strength on LBJโs fadeaway too. Amazing athlete.
-
Shit game. I bet on LBJ getting a 30 point TD, didn't think they'd get blown out and Lebron would sit half the 4th
Nets have so much shooting it's just ludicrous.
-
I see Roberson is now at the Nets. He was always an important part of the OKC team so hopefully he gets back to his pre-knee injury form.

And theyโve picked up Iman Shumpert as well.

Man, just watched that Nuggets vs Cavs game and Jamal Murray went into video game mode. Was like the playoff games in the bubble. Scored 50 on only 25 shot attempts (8-10 from 3 and 13-15 from 2) and not one FT attempt. He scored 30 in the second half and hit some tough shots too. Heโs got one of the sweetest fadeaways too.
RJ got a decent run too. Still looks like heโs trying to find his role in a team stacked with quality guards.
-
@shark your Suns had themselves a 4th quarter. I actually stopped watching after 3 and then when I saw the final score went back and watched it. CPโs influence was huge and Suns just made bucket after bucket. Pelicans were basically unstoppable offensively in the first 3 and then Ingram, Ball and Zion just went quiet. Good win by the Suns
-
@act-crusader yeah a real mixed bag the last few days with the win over the Pels and getting run down by the Nets after leading by as many as 24! Still fourth I think in the West though.

Now that Saric is back and Kaminsky is starting to play okay, the Suns have a very good 9 guy rotation come playoff time.
-
Celtics are going nowhere.
For one thing they need to find a way to move on from Kemba Walker - he has one of the worst contracts in the NBA now.
-
Nets get over the other LA team still without KD.

Watching Ballmer courtside was as good as the game itself.

And we're thrashing some teams the last few days, wow. Now 20-10.

Ballmer is absolutely comdey gold in basically everything he does. Giving as few fucks as him about what other people think is an inspiration to us all. Legend.

Steph back and goes for 37.
If he can average 30 with a 50/40/90 season and have the Warriors over .500 and secure a playoff spot in the West, give the man the MVP

It's Embiids to lose right now, despite what the odds say...

Heโs having an amazing season. What I like is that heโs attempting less 3s (lowest number of his career) and upped his post and midrange game. FT attempts per game up and shooting 85% from the line.
-
Jokic for MVP!
His numbers are insane this season.
He's also 1st in the NBA in win shares, PER, box plus/minus and value over replacement.
If he can move the Nuggets into the top 4 in the West and he keeps this production up, I think he wins the MVP.
-
MVP is wide open. Lillard is fucking killing it as well. The old bloke in LA is still doing amazing things. Harden is having an incredible run.
-
I have Embiid, LeBron, Jokic in that order
Jokic's numbers are amazing, but you can't give it to a guy if his team is 7th and barely above 500
-
@voodoo I think position on the ladder will count for slightly less this year. As long as you are in the top 8 you should be a good look. Too many teams having to play with there stars out because of covid protocol etc.
I saw a wizards game a few weeks ago they had like 8 players and 4 of them I had never heard of.Jokic,Lillard,LBJ, Embiid, Harden and/or KD if he gets back soon and stays healthy. Hes been deadly but missing too many games.
-
Watching Luka Doncic and the Mavs playing the Nets and just noticed NZ on one of his tattoos
Respect!

Atlanta have fired their coach after their big off-season has resulted in them going 14-20

I saw that headline but I'm not surprised at their immediate record despite their off-season signings so I think this is a little tough on the coach. Rondo, Bogdanovic and Gallinari were good pick-ups, but they're hardly the making of a super team. The roster has high potential though and Rondo is on a two year deal so with near-instant validation required I can see why management have done this. It'd be similar at the Suns if Chris Paul wasn't doing what he was brought in to do: first step is change the coach and then plan B is tinkering with the roster.

Atlanta fans seem generally happy with the decision, so i usually base my opinion off that. Reports of friction between Young and the coach, the coach is usually going to lose that scenario unless he has good runs on the board.
The roster (injuries permitting) is good enough to have a deep run at the East (they aren't getting past the Nets though) so may as well have a crack as it won't take many wins to jump from outside the playoffs to having home court in the first round.
-
@mariner4life That's the other thing which seems a little knee-jerk to me: the poor (albeit improving) state of the East. Only four teams have a winning record and of those the Knicks (18-17) are surely going to come back to Earth at some stage. So relative to the rest of their conference they're hardly stinking it up like the Pistons are. The play-offs are easily within reach, but their recent 3-7 run must have been the death-knell.
-
Book dropped a season-high 43 yesterday and tomorrow we have the Lakers on Sky at 4pm. The Lakers have always been a Suns rival although I don't know if Lakers fans care as much and to be fair these games weren't much chop for a few years post the SSOL Suns vs Kobe era. But tomorrow should be a fun watch.

They were excellent pickups but with Bogdanovic having not played one game, he was the key man. He would take pressure off Trae and give them 20 ppg as well.
On another topic, the Pelicans had a very good win against the Jazz. It was a bit of a shootout which probably suited NOP more, but the Pelicans held their nerve. The Ball / Zion / Ingram trio is really starting to click.

Donโt be hating on my Knicks and a future all-star RJ Barrett
I think theyโve surprised and Randle is surpassing most peoples expectations.

Up till now Pels have been getting annihilated in shootouts. Their great shooting nights seem to be about par for other teams.
