We host 2 Bledisloe Cup games this season so NZR won't be giving up those.

Look like the Springbokke will play the All Blacks twice in NZ, Wallabies twice at home and Pumas home and away.

The Springboks are set to play the All Blacks twice in New Zealand during the 2021 Rugby Championship.

Not sure if this is official but not far away.

@oompb That article is from mid-December 2020. Probably lots of water gone under the bridge since then, especially with SANZAAR having a new (Aussie) CEO.

                From the January article
"“Plan A is certainly a preference," Morris said.
“We've restructured the Rugby Championship this year to mini tours, which we're really excited about.
“We really think that's going to reinvigorate the tournament. Fans came back to us with feedback around how they missed the tours.
“So, hopefully borders will open up. Things are settling down in Australia and New Zealand, but we're still keeping a very close on South Africa and Argetina.
"Fingers crossed we get to deliver the best outcome, Plan A,"

                Cross fingers for plan A.

Our Corvid situations is pretty good at the moment. If it stay like this we should be OK comes the Lions and Wallabies.

A Springbok mini tour in NZ will be great for rugby.

Just found this article, published today.

New Zealand Rugby has confidence it will host multiple international opponents in 2021 and is talking to several government agencies in a bid to make it happen.

Chief executive Mark Robinson has confirmed NZR is optimistic about hosting Italy and Fiji and possibly some part of The Rugby Championship.

The latter could include the hosting of a historic blockbuster between the All Blacks and South Africa.

The two nations will contest their 100th encounter this year, a century on from when they first clashed in Dunedin.

NZR has not made a bid to host the entire Rugby Championship with its preference for a co-hosting format with the other countries involved, but those discussions are ongoing between the Sanzaar partners.

South Africa would be unlikely to be included as a host partner, opening up the possibility for the 100th test between the two nations to be played in New Zealand.

"At this stage, they have signalled that they don't wish to host The Rugby Championship this year,” Robinson said.

"We're also hopeful obviously that whatever happens later in the year with The Rugby Championship, we'd love the opportunity to play that at home if South Africa are unable to host which is obviously a possibility at the moment."

Much like last year, NZR is working closely with the Government, including health and border officials, to understand what can be possible in the earliest timeframe.

Will be excellent if the All Blacks and Springbokke can get tours going again. Maybe a few warm ups against franchises?

I suspect the big focus for the Boks this year will be the Lions tests. I suspect a lot of their players will be unavailable for the rest of the International season after those happen.

I wonder if we are going to have all the games here in NZ, with the way Oz is going with covid. Maybe a cut down series.

The Wallabies apart from the Brumbies players who have gone back to canberra (No cases there)have stayed training in Queensland who have no covid cases. This may mean they can travel to wellington.

If that happens Fosters job will be safe as he will not have to coach against anyone.

Mate I would expect Foster is the only coach who could lose when they are not playing.
His ability to fuck up is unprecedented is the coaching world.

The Government has granted the Wallabies an “economic exemption” to enter New Zealand so a Bledisloe Cup match at Eden Park can go ahead.

@bovidae Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is in Gqeberha. I had to look that up to find out that Port Elizabeth has been officially renamed. I had no idea.

Not much new here, but if welly not available for test 2 it'll go to Eden park.

The Deputy Prime Minister is drawing the line on rugby exemptions to the trans-Tasman bubble pause after the Wallabies arrive for the upcoming Bledisloe Cup.

My worry is the ABs go to Perth after bled 2, can't get back until after NH tour code the bubble not re opened

I have to agree with Fozzie that a year on and we still haven't worked out a solution for travelling sports teams.
I can only guess that the whingers that 'hate' sport and those that want more Wiggles tours would never shut up if you put strict vaccination/testing/bubble rules in place for a rugby team.

It depends on what the rugby teams expect. We have had international cricket and netball teams here.

When compared to the roster from the 2020 Tri Nations, there are eleven names missing. They are forwards José Luis González, Ignacio Calles, Ignacio Calas, Lucio Sordoni, Mayco Vivas, Federico Wegrzyn, Santiago Grondona and backs Tomás Albornoz, Juan Imhoff, Lucas Mensa and Ramiro Moyano.

Multiple factors explain why the above names are not selected for the 2021 tournament. Some players are sidelined with injuries, others were wider roster options who have recently joined teams abroad and some are simply out of favor. ...

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) has announced Eden Park in Auckland will host back-to-back Bledisloe Cup Tests against Australia on Saturday 7 August and Saturday 14 August.

Confirmation of the venues and dates means the second Bledisloe Cup Series Test, which is now also the opening match of the newly-named Fortinet Rugby Championship, has been moved from Sky Stadium in Wellington, where it was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday 28 August.

SANZAAR has also confirmed the third and final Bledisloe Cup Test will be played at Optus Stadium in Perth where the two teams will meet on Saturday 28 August, a week later than first scheduled.

The revised schedule means New Zealand will now not be hosting the two Fortinet Rugby Championship Tests against Argentina, which had been scheduled for Eden Park in Auckland on 11 September and Sky Stadium in Wellington on 18 September. They will now be played in Australia, with details of the matches to be announced by SANZAAR in due course.

NZR is continuing to plan for two Tests against South Africa, at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin on Saturday 25 September, and at Eden Park on Saturday 2 October.

Fans who have purchased tickets for any of the three affected Tests will receive a full refund and should expect to be contacted by the relevant ticket providers Ticketmaster and Ticketek in due course.
