T20 Internationals. Nz v Aus
-
Martin Guptill, specialist fielder.
-
Well well well. Aussie mini collapse.
-
Quite a shellacking now.
Benefit of the doubt after a fortnight quarantine but I've been surprised at how the Aussies have just batted and bowled like they were back at Manuka Oval. Haven't displayed much nous, but they'll get better i presume.Ish has impressed me today. Good control of many variations.
-
Man Conway's innings just looks better and better. I was a bit worried when we were able to finish so strongly that the pitch was flattening out but turns out that it's just the benefit of being good at cricket fundamentals.
-
Ish has bowled really well tonight.

Bowled some long hops for wickets too. Figures a little flattering
-
I really, really want to see Conway in the test team somehow, problem is we're rather settled at 3/4/5........
I don't want a great like Rossco to retire, but when he does we have an absolute Taylor made replacement.
-
Destroyed.

Definitely a bit of pressure on @NTA s favourite all rounder Mitch Marsh to get a few runs
Was there cricket on?

I woulda settled for Jacques Kallis and Dale Steyn too

So that was my first T20 live, at any level. What a weird game. It kind of felt like we got to 180 without any fireworks whatsoever. Maybe I'm used to watching the BBL and maybe this game was an outlier with minimal fours and sixes with lots of twos run, but our innings until the very end was just a bit 'blah'.
Great innings from Conway. Runs from him kind of seem inevitable at the moment, and hand on heart that's how I felt last night once Kane got out. So to get so close to a century wasn't a great surprise, and it was a helluva shame he didn't get the fairytale finish. Santner should have run!
Good win to start the series.
-
Watching an interview with Conway on the TV news tonight he said:
"Mitch Santner said to me, 'bro, we're running two no matter what', and I think realistically I hit it straight to the guy, so I was never getting back."

Yep, if they'd tried for the second I don't think he'd have even been in the frame.
-
@donsteppa and yet there was absolutely nothing to lose, and they may have forced a mistake. May as well be 99 and out trying as 99*.

Pfffft, gotta think of the average. Be like Boycott, he wouldn’t have gone for the extra run.

He'll be capped by the test team if KW/Rossco/Nichols get hurt.........failing that once Rossco retires he'll walk in.
-
Aus win the toss and are bowling

Not sure he will as Young is the current backup and the selectors seem to stick with the status quo.
-
Guptill hitting straight 6's again
50*
-
Following on cricinfo, it would appear that Mr Guptill is not a has been just quite yet....
-
Guppy really going gang busters.
6 sixes in his 70* from 37 balls.
102/1 from 11, a great start.

Doing enough to keep the wolves at bay for a while longer
-
If a wicket falls they should promote Phillips, I think he is more likely to hit sixes from ball 1.
-
Kiwi crowds can't catch for shit.

They're getting plenty of practise right now!
-
why is a T20 being played on a Thursday afternoon?
-
guptill into the 90s
-
@mariner4life I guessing because there are no lights in Dunedin (plus it's O week hence the crowd)and NZC doesn't want to compete with Super Rugby on the weekend.
-
150-1 off 14.1
-
Kane 50 up off 32 balls

It's O week, are there plenty of students in attendance?
-
Guptill caught on the boundary just short of 100
-
@canefan Guptill caught on boundary for 97
