      One of the fatbusting problems that has been a bit of a recurring theme is that we've been staying off the grog a fair bit, but when we go on it we get tanked. MvJ fell off his bar-stool on Friday night (saved the glass of vino however) and backed up on Saturday by getting thrown out of a party. After I'd acquired some chick's phone number and all. Even I was disgraced with MvJ. <br />

      Anyway, ordinarily if I was going on the piss I'd start with something bloody solid like a couple of pies, some toasted sambos, a fuck-off fried chicken burger (Oporto mmmmmmmm.....) and chips or all of the above. <br />

      Given they're all very bad for you, is there anything anyone could recommend instead. Posts which suggest 15 kilograms of lettuce will be instantly deleted. For me, I can't go past the fact that you need something solid, unhealthy and fatty in the stomach before you head to the boozer. Correct?<br />

      Half the problem is I think I can drink as much as usual, so set off at the ordinary clip, but find out, too late, that I can't.<br />

        If you're going on the piss like that then you might as well just consider it a 'cheat day' and eat some crap before hitting the liquor.

          See the funny thing is I don't actually crave shitty food before going on the grog whilst fatbusting, but the last few times I've come home after pissing up and scoffed truckloads of it. So I've trying to find a happy medium  :happy:

            You don't need to eat totally shitty foods.  All you need is substance.  When on a health kick, I will get a type of Pub-grub that isn't the unhealthy option, but is still filling. A rice or pasta dish etc etc.  It need not be deep fried

              MvJ - get yourself into a decent BBQ steak or chicken at the pub beforehand, and just make sure you skip the sauce and have the salad to accompany. And have a big glass of milk before going out at all - lines the stomach, good for the bones, and also makes you feel a bit bloated so you don't overdo it <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

                  My alcholic uncle recommends eating a a full apple before getting on the grog, and I mean the whole apple - core and all.  Apparently its the arsenic in the core that helps in some way.<br />

                  I have tried it a few times but got so drunk that I couldn't work out if it helped me or not.

                    Yes, cheers for the suggestion that a whack of arsenic could be better for me than a hamburger, but MvJ thinks he'll pass at this stage...

                      Not someone who usually suffers from this problem, but getting something like a grilled bacon sandwich might help. What you're craving as much as anything is electrolytes that you lose due to alcohol's diuretic properties. Biltong, being basically salty lean steak, is the absolute tops for this, but you might have a bit of a problem getting it in Sydney (as opposed to Perthfontein...). Nick's suggestion makes a lot of sense as well. Handful of nuts could also be a decent way to help it out. <br />

                      Also, orange juice; vitamin C helps you metabolise alcohol. Milk thistle extract is also great for liver function, so you might consider that as well.

                        Don't hit the piss much anymore but when I do I find Schnitzel 😕, rice and a big glass of milk do the trick. <br />

                          What I usually do is, like Thomond says, I eat three pieces of Biltong, not cow but venesson Biltong. Lines my stomach up good and can drink loads. When I come home I don't have the urge to finish the fridge.<br />

                          Venesson Biltong has no fat on it where cow Biltong is known for the to attack the heart. Just ask Danie Gerber, he had to go for heart bypass just because he ate a crap load of cow Biltong.

                            I'm with you there mate. A piece of fried, crumbed schnitzel with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise on wholemeal bread will do the trick. It obviously has some fat in it but also some healthy components and will be filling enough for the booze. A shop at the Australia Square food court (Uncles Old-time something?) used to do the best one of these sandwiches I've ever eaten. I had many of these before heading out on the town.  :nta

                                I had a great piece of schnitzel last weekend in berlin though I doubt its fat busting properties as it was as big as my head and about half and inch thick and came with a mountain of chips, god it was good though.
