My club Te Rapa in the Waikato are running the usual A and B teams. We gauged interest to re-start the under 85's but the numbers weren't there. We have been stuck in the bottom half of Division 1 for a few years now. We have a good young coach in for the long haul and he has buy in from the players so hopefully we can make the Pro-Reg competition after the first round for a change.

My club Southern (in Taranaki) just started training, 3 seniors and colts I think they running again this year. Actually first year in Taranaki last year and as Southern local club I followed them, may actually broaden it a bit this year, got mates involved with Stratford about 28Kms up the road ,so may keep an eye on them too. I also enjoyed following a couple of 3rd division clubs a bit last year particularly Kapong who came dead last, not flash in the playing department, but bloody good little club.

New social grade for Harbour clubs:
The new grade is here and needs a name! Starting May 18 and playing on Wednesday nights, the grade runs for six weeks and offers an alternative from traditional versions of rugby. Designed to be fun and social, the games consist of:
-
12-a-side
-
25 minute halves
-
Rolling substitutions
-
Uncontested scrums
Plus, all games will be played at one location each week, with some cool prizes on offer! So start getting your mates together (including one who is keen to take up a whistle if needed), brainstorm some ideas for the competition name and be a part of Harbour Rugby’s exciting new offering.
Registrations open soon!

The Waikato Division One (Next down from Premier) comp is suppose to start this weekend, subject to a meeting tonight. The rest of the comps start later.
Talk up in Counties that Waiuku and Onewhero will combine for a team to stay in Premier due to a lack of numbers.

Delayed 1 week.
Earlier this week all Division 1 clubs agreed to delay the start of their club rugby season by one week due to COVID related issues.
Division 1 first week of competition will now commence on Saturday 9th April, with this weekend's matches to be rescheduled to later in the year. Week one matches that were scheduled for this weekend will now be played on Saturday 18th June.
Round 2 has now been rescheduled to commence on Saturday 25th June in a Top 5/Bottom 5 format, with the Top 5 teams competing for the Mooloo Shield. Division 1 Final will now be played on Saturday 30th July.
Teams that have not been affected by COVID are free to play another round of pre-season matches this weekend in preparation of their season kickoff next weekend. -

he was with OBM up here, played a couple of games in the Northland dev side and then went walk-about.
Certainly a talented player, so hopefully gets his head space right.

There has been an article under the headline HARDHAM CUP TO BECOME 10 TEAMS THIS YEAR contributed to the clubrugby.co.nz website by a person purporting to be Chris Rattue-Kneepkins. Little hard to work out if it is the Rattspew or not but readers have been warned.
