Strong team. Scotland by about 30.
I wonder if any other squad in World Rugby has players born in Scotland, Tonga, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand ( aw hang on, Maitland isn’t playing ) and England all playing in the same team ? Someone should ask Stephen Jones to write a well researched and balanced article on it.
-
I really looking forward to this game. Match of the round I reckon. I not overly confident on who will win this, Scots look pretty good, but I never write off an Eddie Jones team.
-
Recent Calcutta cup results have been good for Scotland.
Last four years:
Scotland 2
England 1
Draw 1 -

I’ve said it before, the Scots are on the way up. Look how many Lions they had in the backline ? Extraordinary stuff. Only one way this one will be going…..

Well I'll agree with you there, nothing better than deep fried haggis after stumbling out of a night club

How about salted porridge and kippers for breakfast?

I love the mouth-watering names: haggis, neeps, crootie dumplings, electric soup...

13 Elliot Daly (Saracens, 52 caps)
12 Henry Slade (Exeter Chiefs, 43 caps)England making loads of changes in the midfield again, I see. Maybe Jones is looking to build everything around Marcus Smith. Or he's taking the NZ approach...

On the whole I agree. But there always exceptions. A couple of years back I had the haggis and the venison off this menu here.
I can't tell you what I had for dinner at most nice restaurants I've been to over the last couple of years, but I remember this one. It was that good.
https://www.howies.uk.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/howies-waterloo-place-dinner-menu-with-ngci.pdfRegarding the game, really excited for it, really expect Scotland to put up a fight, attack hard and get stuck in.
So, it will be dour and England will win.

Not often that Scotland looks comfortably better than England on paper. Steward and Smith may be big threats though. Interesting matchup

Eddie talks all the time of 'removing numbers from shirts' and playing in multiple positions. He's a big believer in multi role players

I wouldn’t choose a single English player in a combined 15.

No, I’ll just google who’s playing lock for Scotland…..Jonny Gray and Grant Gilchrist ( who I wouldn’t actually know from a bar of soap )
They’ll do. Give me an honest toilet over a dynamic, athletic superstar anyday

When barracking for Scottish rugby I find the trembling fingers over my eyes can indeed interfere with the viewing.
But the last time I landed in Scotland they won their game, beating Australia comfortably. Today I am not in Scotland. As their unknown good luck charm, I worry for them. -
Love those flamey things the Scots have when they run out at home. 🔥
-
Scrums taking forever......
-
England 3 Scotland 0.
Not a looker this one so far. England have more about them.
-
Bad defence by Joe Marchant.
Ben White with a try on debut. Scotland 5 England 3.
-
England's defence shredded. Itoje comes up fast and Hogg slips the ball to Graham who wrong-foots the rush defence.
-
England doing quite a lot of dumb shit. Eddie Jones will be tearing his hair out.
-
Brian Moore and Nigel Owens doing a great job as commentary box summarisers. Both men know their onions.
-
Marcus Smith with a penalty. Scotland 7 England 6 after 34 minutes.
-
Finn Russell with a penalty from 40 metres out on the stroke of Half Time.
Scotland 10 England 6 going into a break. England dominated territory and possession in that half but Scotland ahead on the scoreboard.

With Andrew Cotter there, it's hard to find a better trio in the commentary box.
EDIT: Chris Patterson is pretty good too.

@victor-meldrew BBC doing a superb job all round of covering this game. Gabby Logan, Martin Johnson, Sam Warburton and John Barclay all good value at half time.
