@Number-10 Good looking squad for a game against a Heartland team. Surprised to see McClutchie, Sapsford, Rakete-Stones and Flanders already in the 23, esp Sapsford and Rakete-Stones.

By the way, isn't it also Rangihuna's Magpies debut? He hasn't played for us before, has he? Only for Wellington?

@Number-10 Lewis Bush has a similar stature to Joel Hintz. At club level he gets under the taller guys he is up against and simply screws the bejesus out of them, whether it works at NPC level is still to be confirmed.

Quite right. He had a pre-season non-first-class game for HB in 2013 v BOP.

Played for HB Under 20's in 2012 and 2013.

Morning guys, just letting you know it is not exactly normal HB weather today. Just got back from hanging out the washing and almost needed to wear mittins to ward off the frostbite. Things are looking up a bit with the temperature rocketing out to almost 8.5 degrees but sadly little prospect of any relief from the sun that is steadfastly refusing to sneak out from behind quite thick silver grey clouds which the light southerly is not having much effect on blowing away.
I definitely won't be wearing shorts to the match this afternoon! Fingers crossed that it might warm up a bit as most or my warm woolies are still in Wellington.

@Higgins so the green n blacks are in with a show because all those pretty boys from HB won’t like a little wintry cool weather… 😎

@ACT-Crusader Possibly, but even they will be feeling it a bit at the moment. Fingers crossed that it does warm up to the mid teens this afternoon as it can't be fun playing in English like winter conditions. Just a crying shame I did not think about packing my hipflask when I came up home two months ago (for a two week stay, or so I thought at the time!) as it will be a necessity by the time the second half kicks off some time around 5.30pm.

The game seems to have gone about to script for a pre-season Ranfurly Shield game so far.

These sorts of games should be played away , I really don’t see the point in playing amateur teams at home ..Not even Hawkes Bay supporters give a hoot
Not a bad effort from blokes that will be back at work tomorrow morning

That’s a brilliant passage of play from an amateur team .deserved a try showing they are a very well coached team

Big difference in the quality of starting halfback compared to the reserve halfback for South Canterbury

I still have to watch the replay of the game. I could only watch on my phone and I have a small phone, which isn't great for watching games. Did anyone notice that Devan Flanders seemed to suffer from his knee injury again? He was grabbing his knee around the 75min mark and left the field early. That's a real worry. Josh Kaifa also out of the game early. I don't think there were more casualties?

Oh, and Lewis Bush is indeed very similar to Hintz. I seriously hope they're not considering giving him a contract. Two of them is too much (and his mullet, too).
