Springboks v All Blacks I

At the risk of upsetting the approved Fern narrative, I'll be very surprised if ABs don't win at least one of Bok tests.
They won't be able to emulate Irish structures, and we know how to play them.
-
And perhaps the pent up emotion from letting themselves down in last Ireland match might inspire a superhuman effort in the first match?
-

-
Do Boks have an off season? Between NH club, Curries Cup and Rugby Champs, hard to see one?

@OomPB big squad for two matches! Any surprises?
-
@pakman our season ended, so the squad is until end of year. Vermeulen, Frans and Reinach was injured, now brought back for Marcel Coetzee, Fassi & Kolbey .
-
I’ll scream if we have no tactics (stupid midfield bombs is an anti-tactic).
That is all.
-
A prop named Ox is pretty impressive.

I just want to see a plan, even if it's wrong, just see some sort of structure, and some backline moves. Basically any kind of progress.

Indeed, although his name is Retshegofaditswe Nché. So Ox is more for ease rather than what he does at scrum time 😉

So no Currie Cup?
-
I'm torn. As an ABs I want us to win. For the good of AB rugby, we have to lose.

Final 25 June, which seems very early in relation to the old days.

I am in no way torn at all, I want us to smash 7 shades of shit out of SA.

Agree. But I acknowledge we won’t.
We won’t even get close.

Fuck yeah, the Boks are the team I want to beat most of all. Nothing feels better than giving them a good hammering. Weirdly though, they're are the team I get the least pissed-off losing against.
Hard bastards on the field but seem bloody good blokes off it with minimal whinging, moaning or gloating.

@pakman CC runs the same time as URC. Next season it will be more hectic when we play in the European leagues.

Arguably the gold standard in player whinging. If there's a better example I can't think of one.

Heart says All Blacks. Head says Boers 2 nil.
We can't defend lineout drives. The Boers live to lineout drive. We just don't have the stock up front at the moment, no matter how well they play.
So for me, prepping for 2 losses, hoping for 2 Wins, not expecting them though.
Only positive from these losses is I've learned to bet at the TAB with me head, and not my heart - bet against the ABS in all 3 tests!

@BartMan was going to upvote until read the last para.

Yes I could never bring myself to support against the jersey no matter who is playing or coaching
-
G'day @BartMan,
This time last year we thought all they had to offer was a kicking game and we thought we'd smash seven shades of shit out of them.
As it turned out, they had quite a bit more to use and we shared two close games (1-1), with our current coaching group.
Home advantage will help them a bit, but I'm with Pakman. I reckon we've got a good chance of winning at least one.
-
@OomPB Strong looking squad - Kolbe is missing - any other big guns?
-
Strong looking midfield.
David Havilli doesn’t quite inspire as much confidence as that bunch does.
-
Clutching at straws a bit perhaps but there's weaknesses in the SA backs.
I don't think either 10 is that great, nor are their wingers as good as ours.
Unfortunately, their tight 5 looks a whole lot better. -

@pakman I was looking for something outrageous in that article to disagree with but I have nothing
-
@pakman Mallet also thought we would put 20 plus on Wales in first test….
-
@Chris-B Kolbey is injured. Big guns , Vermeulen & Reinach coming back.
-
-
@pakman I am getting nervous reading this. I have never heard of a weak All Blacks team. The Springboks are far from the finish product.

I don't know. I only scimmed it, but I reckon he is at least a couple of years late with some of his comments. Eg BBBR is world class, irreplaceable and will be sorely missed and our props are skilled at ball playing and cleaning out rucks etc.

He says we won't win and now you even take his few compliments away, thanks very much Mr Gilbert Enoka!

The Springboks rush defense needs to improve a lot. Wales backs beat us to easy. The bom squad was the difference in the final test. That 6/2 split is always a worry. Against the All Blacks this will be vital. Kitshoff, Marx, Sous, Kwagga always bring a huge step up.
