Oh, and Hammett. They're doomed.
-
@Bovidae It's a pity that this is scheduled during the NPC season and some of our best are not available for that reason. Lucas Cashmore isn't in either list, so I assume he's too old?
-
@Stargazer Cashmore turned 20 last month, so I guess it depends on what cut-off date they used for selection. He was playing for the BOP U19s.
-
Disappointed that they aren't playing the Boks u19s.

He also played for the steamers in their win over Otago last week
Was just referring to his possible eligibility. All the Waikato and BOP players named in the NZ U19s were playing in the U19 game I watched. Usually Jan 1 is used as the date for age-group teams.
-
@akan004 Stormers u19 will be pretty close to Bokkies
-
Legend Joggie Viljoen laaitie will be a big asset.
-
21 players out of the 50 SA School squads were from WP (Stormers)

@booboo that's strange. Maybe our Matrix end of year examns. They have just played a two weeks tournament vs England and France.
-
Bulls would also be a big test. Played WP in the Cravenweek final.

Here’s a breakdown of the squad by position. Obviously some players can play in multiple positions.

-
Lorenzo Julies, Paul Roser is in the Sharks squad for the NZ u19s.
-
Do we know if these games will be televised? I can't see them listed on Sky, but maybe Spark Sports have the rights.
-
@Bovidae they will be available on the SuperSchools app and youtube
-
@OomPB This YouTube account?

This post is deleted! -
3:50am tomorrow morming -
OK, so the match dates must be SA time.
-
@Bovidae Is this a strong side and how well are they likely to go against SA sides?
-
A lot of the NZ U19 squad were selected for the NZ Schools/Barbarians squads last year. Of course, they never played a game.
Our SA posters say that the Stormers team should be the strongest opposition, so a big game first up. I haven't seen a NZ team announcement yet.
-
@Bovidae Also good to add that some of our best players in this age category aren't in the squad because they're playing NPC.
-
@Stargazer And sevens.

Is it typical that NPC takes precedence over this? I know what I'd rather do as a 19yr old!
-
@voodoo I don't know, we haven't had a NZ U19 team for ages, but Super Rugby takes precedence over NZ U20s, too.
-
@Stargazer Kind of sad - I know it's a pro league and all, but we're talking the chance to represent your country, and go on a proper tour - memories forever there
-
Just remembered there's a provision about precedence in the Competitions Regulations Handbook. It looks like this hasn't been updated for a while, because it still names the Junior AB's as our "next senior national representative team" and not the All Blacks XV, but I assume the rest hasn't changed. It also doesn't mention the NZ U19, of course, but I guess it's the same rank as the NZ U20 team.
-
It would be on a case-by-case basis. If a player was named in a NPC squad and considered important to the team due to their position/alternatives, the PU could probably make argument to keep them. Tough on the young player though.
-
@Bovidae I struggle to get the WP u19 team for this match.
-
I'm annoyed as hell that NZR has given us any info about the game. No line-up, no kick-off time, no info about livestream. We're lucky enough that @OomPB told us about the livestream, otherwise we wouldn't be able to watch it.
-
@Stargazer I understand WP have a squad of 30 players for the game. My pleasure for the link
Superschools was our go to link for all our schoolboy sport from u7-u18 during lockdown.
They put up cameras on the A field from the first to the last game
-
Now live
-
@OomPB So the 3:30am time we were given by You tube was very wrong!
-
@Daffy-Jaffy ja sorry. NZ u19s look like big men. WP totally lost. I don't even know the players.
-
Paul Roos would have been better then this WP lot
-
@OomPB Commentators said that the local team was thrown together 4 days ago and that WP's top players weren't available. I wonder why? Was SA schools or u19 in camp or playing? The WP 9 that moved to 10 was good but was playing them on his own at times. Loved the starting NZ midfield, power at 12 with pace at 13. Not much quality defence going on though so I hope tougher tests will come.
-
@Daffy-Jaffy our schoolboy season ended in August. The grade 12s end exams starts now. They are u18s.
NZ u19s would have better games against our CC u21s which season is now half way.
