Surname First Name Country Pros Cons CAPUZZO Ange ITA WR Breakthrough player of 2022. Superb tries. A real gem. A joy to watch. Something different. Pace. Elusive. Good small man. STEWARD Freddie ENG Very good for England (one of few consistent bright spots). Has power. Safe under high ball. Appears his real name may actually be Freddie. HOGG Stuart SCO Awesome for years. Average this year. -
Ange Capuozzo of Italy.
Fully deserved to be World Rugby's breakthrough player. Superb tries against Waled and Australia. A real gem and a joy to watch.
-
Steward has been very good for England. One of the few consistently bright spots in a miserable year.
-
Too early for this vote, but LRZ could be a world class 15 based on his two showings for Wales
-
Steward would be the logical choice thanks to his power and safety under the high balls but I will go for Capuozzo who brings something different : pace, elusiveness and a weight which proves rugby can be played by small and skinny men.
-
Stuart Hogg cos he’s been awesome for years.

He’s been pretty average this year though.
-
Ange Capuozzo because world breakout player. And the only other option is Freddie Steward who offers absolutely nothing on attack other than a leap

Capuzzo. His last minute try against Wales was a moment of sheer magic and beauty in a fairly drab year of Test Rugby.
-
Capuzzo’s try against Wales was a thing of beauty alright, especially as it came as a result of a Welsh player giving away a penalty and then missing a tackle. The same player that the expert comms guy had just given MoM 😂
However one try does not make you the best full back. Steward has been nigh on faultless this year. Very solid in defence, good positional skills and has been good-ish, if not spectacular in attack. Purely as a Full Back (and that’s what this vote is), I cannot see a more deserving option.
-
I'm kinda surprised JB didn't get a nomination.
-
@Catogrande agree one try doesn’t make a player, but he also did a lot more this season. I thought his game against the Wallabies showed a maturity that is rarely seen from someone so new to test footy.
-
I didn’t see that game, so of course, it doesn’t count 😀
I do agree, he’s been looking good, ball in hand but I’ve not seen an all round game to suggest he’s the finished article, let alone best this year.
In honesty though, there’s not been a lot to shout about at 15 this year, so for me Steward gets it.

Give me 10 mins in Steward’s body and I’ll produce a better highlight reel
He’s the North and Cuthbert of England
