Oh get fucked, the spinoff was as funny as finding gas gangrene on your genitalia
Stuff comments delivers some rare gold
"Never saw it, but if it was anything like the Spinoff website, then I am guessing it was a load of condescending left wing rubbish, where a bunch of self-congratulatory AUT communications grads sit around and bemoan that they can't afford homes in central Auckland or decide societal norms are actually 'rape culture'. Good riddance. If I were PM, public funding of TV would be gone by lunchtime"
Also the fuckwits who ran it would never give a job to a man who did prison time for beating his wife but they had no problem hiring this violent she whale.

@Bones I love the way Vegans over exaggerate how "delicious" their food is despite it being obviously disgusting.
-
@no-quarter I didn't read the whole article, but the first review in it made all this mention about how it looks and the texture....and nothing about the taste.

Except the word "delicious".
But yeah - I hesitate to admit it, but I actually tried some "vegan duck" at a festival earlier this year - mainly because the queues for everything else were fucking atrocious, and it was in a burrito-sized sushi roll, which just looked like the perfect thing considering the heat/hangover.
The taste, texture, look - were all "realistic". But... there really was something missing, which I could only put down to the lack of subconscious satisfaction that only comes from knowing that something died for my culinary enjoyment. -

Ha... I actually read the entire thing (slow work day), and the reporter eventually summed it up pretty well...
- After watching nearly a dozen vegans devour the dish, I decided to try it. < ... > I wanted to love it, but after years of eating succulent cod fillets my palate could not quite adjust to the thin and rubbery texture of the blossom flower. (The whole experience made me crave fish, and for dinner I had a meaty chunk of North Atlantic haddock.)

Vegans can actually make some decent food - as long as it's not trying to fake meat/dairy stuff.
And obviously you have to have a side of meat with it.
This. Vegetables can be tasty and interesting in themselves. If you want to be a vegetabilist just eat the bloody vegetables. If meat is so horrific why try and replicate it?
Due to a complete balls up (Mrs Cato and the two Ms Catos being even later than usual) I found that the only option for a late lunch in a sleepy Devon town yesterday, was a vegan cafe (and believe me I looked bloody hard for an alternative). I had the Lebanese chick pea and lentil soup and it was very nice. Tofu, vegetarian sausages et al though you can stick up your arse.
I did have to have a large bowl of chilli con carne for dinner though.

There's some deviant stuff in this world, and then there's vegan sex

Nadia Lims kid is going to be stoked the world knows it was the result of a pounding Nadia took on the bedroom floor . No word on the actual position used or whether her or the dad got carpet burns , some things are best left to the imagination I guess.

It’s difficult to read the herald these days with all the pop up ads and other crap you have to wade though to get to the “ stories” and when you do you kind of wonder why you bothered .
