        Worth remembering that you need fat on your body to live, eg around your heart. From memory, top athletes get under 10% and can go as low at 3/4% but can't maintain it long as it's so unhealthy.<br />
        <br />
        10 to 20% is pretty good I think.

            Under 15% for a front-row is pretty good. Under 10%, and you're hitting the limits of what you can do. Mate of mine who rowed once hit 4%  <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /><br />

            BTW, has Black Dragon been on to you to tell you you should be the next AB no. 8...?  <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

              being 1.81m tall, perhaps I would be more suited to halfback...  <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

                Looking at Weepu, you'd need to get the body fat back up again for that.  <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

                  15.6 is bloody good for an ectomorph your age Bart.  The rather loose classification of 'athlete' is for males whose bodyfat is 12% and under.

                      Those the scales that work on running a signal through your feet? :-k They can be a little inaccurate Bart but anything under 20% is good 👏<br />

                      I choose not to step on such scales :shifty:

                        How does it measure your fat %?<br />
                        <br />
                        I did the ole BMI thing the other day and it said i was outside of my correct range which for a 6'1.5" chap is 10 stone 13lbs - 13stone 8lbs, the latter half of this although healthy on a BMI scale would seem to be underweight and unwell even.

                          Ignore BMI it's a load of crap. As muscle weights more than fat, if you are even slightly fit it thinks you are fat. Any system that says all people of the same hieght should weigh pretty much the same is overly simplistic.

                            yeah, it's one of those scales - which I think are bullshit too, unless they give a good reading  <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /><br />

                            BMI - I think I am classed as dangerously obese, even when you put in the athlete type adjustments!!

                              Yeah, BMI is crap. Under that, you'd probably find most of the AB backline is borderline obese...

                                Yeah I used those new fangled scales a while back and the results surprised me.  In fact it weighed me as only 1% BF more than the caliper test I had that morning at the gym.

                                      BMI makes too many assumptions over body fat percentage and body shape.

                                              Wasn't the Body Mass Index created in the 1960's or something without changing?  It's so so out of date, it's not funny

                                                According to this diet show on tv a good ratio of body fat should be 20% for the gents and 25% for the ladies.<br />
                                                Tend to take no notice when i see these so called experst talk about the Body Mass Index..might work well for kids who should be a certain weight for their age and height but no bloodygood if you build up muscle.

                                                  Weighted in for the first time for 5 weeks this morning and pleasantly surprised.  After rowing about half my usual milage for the last month, came in at 98 kilos, and 14& body fat.<br />
                                                  <br />
                                                  So gained a kilo, but lost 1.6% body fat.<br />

                                                  I'll buy that for a dollar  😁
