Spartan Race!
-

Anybody done one? Just signed up for my first one in a couple of months. A Sprint race, 6km with 20 obstacles.

Going to need to do some serous training for this one I think. Also doing a half marathon 3 weeks after, so guess it's time I got my s h i t together again!
-

Basically a cross between The Krypton Factor (legend show!) obstacle course and bootcamp training. So some of the obstacles are like crawling under barbed wire, and then others are things like river crossings / physical challenges / rope climbs etc.

Do you need abs for this race!!?

If it's anything like those tough mudder courses it'll be heaps of fun!
-

Dude, I can feel mine a bit more now, it's pretty cool to be honest. No one mistook me for a mid 90s Peter Andre in Raro ( the pasty Scots tan doesn't help ) but it's a start !
-

yeah the tough mudder was good fun, unless you are there to finish in a time or doing it on your own, is just a good day out with your mates!

Race was yesterday and done - thoroughly recommend it to those looking to do something different and challenge themselves. Some of the obstacles were really easy (although may have challenged some people mentally - heights etc), and some were super hard.
I really did have to push myself beyond the limits of what I thought I was capable of to get through some of them. Those of you who are into weights would really enjoy it - I'm more into cardio which meant I wasn't puffing so much at the end, but really struggled with the strength obstacles (55kg atlas ball walk, 50lb sandbag hike, bucket of rocks hike).
Really great concept, encourage all to give it a go.

Finally got beneath 2 hours for the half marathon this weekend ... 1:58:29 official time. Happy with. I have previously run at 1:56 on Strava, but I after yesterdays, I'm not sure I trust strava so much anymore.
Anyway, regardless, that goal has now 100% been completed, onto the next one.
