@broughie hes a big bloke so im going to say he's quite a bit of food
-
i think there has been a couple of threads that have touched on similar topics and im not really sure the best one so i'll stick this in here and move if needs be
so, i decided during lockdown last year i was going to get back into playing rugby, wife was working long hours and quite honestly i just got a bit lonely at night
found a club not too far away here in melbourne and preseason started training started late Jan.
jeez, a real wake up call, apparently jogging just doesn;t cut it on the fitness scales, having a proper conditioning coach is helping and can at least finish a session without having to take a break to "stretch"
some real trouble with knees/achilles/calf's as have had issues with them in the past. slowly coming right though through proper training
can i also just add the back of the lineout seem a lot further away that i remember from the last time i played!
preseason games started this week, if anyone wants to feel a but queasy i can provide photos of my back from the first game, black/blue and red
in general i feel good though, great to meet loads of new blokes ranging from the 20 years olds trying to go pro to some older hats waiting for the squads to sperate so the 3rds can spend at least one training run at the pub
and interesting development is the wife, started making comments about missing me being out 2-3 nights a weeks and Saturday games still on the horizon
will settle down i think as i have no expectations above the 3rds and so should get a night back a week
just interesting how things change a bit

i think he truly will go down as one of the greats, his commitment and attitude have been a huge part of NZ rugby over the last 10-12 years
-
@chimoaus it occured to be we could/should also be proactive in checking in, how you going this week?

@kev said in Bledisloe 1:
Is that the worst half of rugby we have ever played?
this is what my post is about
I'm starting to think that TV/commentators...and even the fern...is part of whats killing my enjoyment of rugby.
At the game, we had an even mix of kiwis and aussies around us...everyone was chatting and talking at half time about how enjoyable the game was (barring the obvious like QT)..reading through the thread and moments like sotutu's kick...everyone was cheering around us about trying to play awesome....and then i get on here and see 10-15 posts about it essentially being the worst play in the history of rugby. Im sure with replays and the commentators it more clear to analyse but at the time it was a few seconds of up out of our chairs....hmmm
re the end....the crowd were all yelling for him to hurry up...was really blatant in real time
I saw a tweet that summed it up nicely for me....if this is the first shot in a war against time wasting...then great, all for it...if this is a random one off implementation of the rules...then its harsh...correct but harsh
some people that i thought played well in real time have been lambasted so once again a fascinating example of how different the game is without replays and commentary

WE'RE IN THE BIG SHOW BABY!!!

This is the same legacy that foster has been systematically dismantling since his appointment? There are many reasons none of us trust fosters ABs see the fosters first thread
That just shows you have no idea of the All Blacks legacy. It as @DaGrubster built on 120 years, and I would suggest it built on teams AND supporters.....
you both seem to be missing the point that some of us are making...yes...we all agree its taken 120 years to make a legacy....thats exactly why some of us feel Foz had done so much to damage to that legacy in only 4 years....you talk about supporters too, ive met far more AB fans that say they havent enjoyed watching the AB's play ( not just the results, how they are playing) over the last 4 years...far more likely to catch a replay than make an effort to watch live etc...than in the 40 years before that
just because something took so long to build doesnt mean its impervious....just makes it more of a shame when it starts to crumble

god i hate this place

Better team lost
We didn't take our chances, but SA burgled another one. They can't beat us at full strength. Like Australia and the lions, need a red card to get over the lineFuck you haters. Black is the new black.
i find your ideas intriguing and would like to subscribe to your newsletter

Watched True Lies (Schwarzenegger & Jamie Lee Curtis) for the first time in a decade or so. Just a really, really fun movie.
4 Jamie Lee Curtis Stripteases out of 5 Spinal Tap drummers
love True Lies, highly underrated, one of the best comedy action films, also a very fun videogame
This could have gone in a few threads...might have already...not going to check

a quick thought, and ive been heading towards this for a while, im thinking that some of us that are starting to question if we are falling out of love with rugby.....its because (or at least partially) because we watch so much of it on TV, with endless replays trying to find the tiniest mistake or infringement, with commentators telling us everything we might have missed and how we should feel the actions of players....i think we need to get down the sideline more than in front of a screen, have some beers, chat with randoms and just enjoy

lovely day in the sun, biggest gripe was how poor RA handled promoting it, sitting next to some brumbies fans, they had come down for it and were shocked at how small the crowd was, pointed out there had been next to no advertising
Wore my old Dunedin RFC jersey and Fakatava and Vahaakolo came over for a photo, both seem like really good blokes, Freedom was just chatting away about how disappointing the results was, letting the fans down, but how thankful he was to be getting a shot at that level, even more of a fan

Not sure where else to put this, but I’ve put the rest of my little journey here so why not, this helps with happiness
Some are putting it down to the change in management but I can’t comment

This argument that if we have a hard hitting 6 then we can afford to carry someone who is passive in the loose forwards is ridiculous.
not sure thats what people are saying?
We have seen the discussions here many times before where there is making tackles and dominant tackles, both have thier place, your 7 if he is playing for t/os isnt gonna go hunting for the big hits
So you end up with a flanker like Cockwomble. If your support and cleanout is on the job, his entire game is nullified and you're making yards.
There are far too many people who watch SR and think that translates to Tests.
thats offensive to my people

I dont think ive said this on here...largely because i actually thought i might cop some flak, but here goes
I sit on one of the LGBTQI+ committees for a +55k person multinational company, im not a member of the community myself...but i have friends that are, and i realised i wanted to do more to make sure they could just be themselves at work, i believe my team is so high performing because they all get on with each other and can be themselves, they dont have to second guess or doubt how they present themselves
I love the pride jerseys and pride month and pride rounds, its a way to to show support without standing out, bit of an 'i am spartacus deal" always easier when someone else starts ...because there is still stigma, as much as we would like to think there isn't, recent surveys show something like only 50% of professionals feel comfortable being "out"
I love the Manly Jersey for the above reasons but also i think it looks cool, i want everyone to be comfortable with symbols like this...but realise lots of people aren't. I think Manly should be able to have a jersey for the reasons above...but its these players choice to not wear it, if they feel confident enough to stand out and stand up then fair enough, either by not playing or let them wear a "normal" one, probably wont be able to tell on tv anyway
