They also warned the Russians. Unfortunately, it was not enough to prevent this tragedy.

and i have read some where(so might not be true) there was no written Maori language till 20 yrs before the signing.
I could believe that. Seems like a lot of Maori lore is an oral tradition
Thomas Kendall is credited with producing the first book written in Māori in 1815.

So how many people actually signed this Littlewood document?
Just asking for a friend. -

Sorry, but I am not subscribed and could read the whole article.
I just tried again and still can view it. Strange...I can't get in either but it looks QI.
Interestingly the US decided not to replace their C32 fleet (military 757) which are nearly as old as ours. They operate them as "Airforce two" for the VP. Obviously they don't have the reliability issues that we have as they don't take two of them.
But according to this article the US are indeed having some issues with the slightly younger C32. It appears backup aircraft have also been required at times.

When you are persevering with over 30-year-old aircraft the problems they are experiencing are hardly a surprise. This article is well worth a read:
Fun fact: They have even acted as targets for RAAF F-18s...

Why was Luxon using RNZAF
The media travel as well. He wants to move to lease/charter/commercial as he believes it will be more cost effective. The gotcha from the media is that it hasn't happened instantly.. it's all so tiresome.
Right. Well, I'm with him. Far more cost effective to use commercial. We used to fly politicians and their entourage / media etc. all the time. He'd know all about it, he did run an airline.
It will become very obvious what all this really costs of course when it isn't in a "defence" budget. Or maybe RNZAF account for it separately and it's readily available info? What else do the 757 do? Not cheap to operate.
Yes, extremely tiresome.
The aircraft also transport military and civil personnel, equipment and supplies within New Zealand, the Asia-Pacific, Antarctica, and further afield.
According to my rough calculations VIP taskings actually make up no more than 15% of total flight hours annually. -
If you are travelling south from the Bay of Islands towards Whangarei try turning of SH1 at Hikurangi onto the Twin Coast Discovery Highway (Marua Rd). It takes you on a loop through farmland and onto some of the nice east coast beaches already mentioned. (Sandy, Woolleys and Whale Bays, Matapouri and Tutukaka).
Do not turn of onto the Whananaki Road unless you wish encounter very senior politicians on their summer break. -
Thanks Dogmeat. But since when has urinating in a fireplace (or grand piano) been frowned upon?
I think the behaviour of the Australian version was by far the worst. -
I always thought it the referred to the WW2 Australian General Gordon Bennett who abandoned his soldiers who were still busy defending Singapore. He got back to Australia, and they ended up in Changi Prison camp. (but I will stand to be corrected).

Speaking of international coaches who will coach anywhere, what is John Mitchell doing?
Red Roses I think
Yes, he is currently in New Zealand with the team (as an observer) before he takes up new role at the end of this tournament.

TAB pricing also reflects the knowledge that a large proportion of their Kiwi customers bet with their "hearts rather than heads". The ABs are almost always under the odds.
Go offshore if you are looking for better value. -
