Shocker. Pidcock did it too in the men’s race to a lesser degree, and got away with it.

Sunday was my annual favourite race day of the year; a day sitting with mates watching end to end race coverage with a box of Belgian beers. Have done the Paris Roubaix sportive before and it’s is brutal, like nothing I’ve ever experienced on a bike before. In the race itself, VdP put on a legendary ride; the speed he distanced supreme one day riders on the Orchies cobbled sector 60km from the finish was astounding. Commentators were raving about Kiwi Pithies performances this year and Sunday was no different. He looked like he belonged and but for a mistake and crashing on a corner 20 odd km from the finish, may v well have got on the podium. As it was, 7th was fantastic. Evidently he’s in demand by a few teams and strongly rumoured to be heading to Bora to head up their Classics team next year.

@MajorRage my teenage son recently spent 10 days playing cricket in Barbados. The players, coaches and parents that went were universal in their praise. Happy, friendly locals, buzzing bars and restaurants and great scenery.

Watched Laurence Pithie put in a truly outstanding performance at Gent Wevelgem yesterday. Only guy to mix it with Mads and VdP when they attacked and only ran out of juice on the final time up the Kemmelberg. Commentators on Eurosport were raving about him. He will win a big world tour race one day.

Saw The Burial on a recent flight to NZ. Tommy Lee Jones as a funeral director business owner and Jamie Foxx as an ambulance chaser personal injury lawyer that represents him in case that will determine his future and that of his wider family. Surprisingly good. 3 stiffs out of 5 bottles of embalming fluid

Laurence Pithie in a rich vein of form. Finished 2nd on Stage 2 of Paris - Nice, and into the yellow jersey.

Late to the party with Sex Education on Netflix UK. Good young cast, a number of whom have gone on to bigger things. Teen school sex comedy. V graphic and features a still hot Gillian Anderson as a sex therapist and mother of the lead.
Still on S1 of 4 but it’s a keeper.

@voodoo after about 5 years, I’m back in the pool. What a shock to the system! It’s a 50m outdoor pool; swimming on the weekend it was a balmy 3 degrees outside here in London. Luckily the water temp is 21 degrees. Finding it all v therapeutic and can see why I used to enjoy it so much. Got talking to a guy in my lane who had swum Lake Taupo (40 odd km) and Lake Geneva (70km). Insane but quite inspiring!

I’ll be (all over her) back.

@Kruse The team of writers the show employs could make a few modifications for the better?
Yeah - okay, so I'm up to episode 4, and more-and-more seeing why people are annoyed at the ridiculosity.
But... I still hold that it is staying extremely true to the source material... particularly in style - and I think that remains part of the charm.Imagine if they just loosely based it on the books, and people were whinging "But Reacher is supposed to be an imposing semi-autistic giant, not a charming midget!"
<insert gif of Tom Cruise with shit-eating grin>They could keep the source material and just tighten up the script. Imagine Alan Ritchson in the first Reacher movie - that's what the series should be aspiring to.
Having said that, it still has its redeeming features. Eg: From eight minutes in episode six...
That’s either extreme violence or Dixon’s tits. I shall re-watch either way.
My time to shine. On a lark I bought Reacher’s big bro’s setworn suit and all the costume departments’ lingerie seconds from S1 off auction.
Missus’ flabber was well and truly ghasted as Smuts waltzed downstairs and hulked the suit (amazing what those film boffins can do with the magic of perspective.) Surprisingly, my growls that Big Joe always has little Jack Reacher’s number were met with first mystification, then mirth.
The lingerie remains untouched. Probably should’ve got her to watch the show first.
Chapeau! This place never ceases to amaze me.

Arguably Zhang only shone in his 2 recent fights when he effectively destroyed the juggernaut Joyce. He’s a big brute though and hits hard; Parker will need to be at his best to beat him.

Halfway through series 1 of The Bear, on a recommendation. Quite like it; it’s growing on me and I enjoy the disorganised way it’s shot in the kitchen.

Just finished it. I really enjoyed it and thought S2 was better.

Resolutions....
Same shit as always: be healthier. I seem to let this one slide a lot but with 50 in sight and the recent health scare I'm cutting it fine.
Saw a show tonight about a community in SW Victoria who help maintain a national Park walking track. The bloke swinging a hoe was 90 and looked in better shape than a lot of 70yo I've seen.
How old was the hoe he was swinging?
