Fatbastarding: NTA log
-
Nope. Too farking cold and wet to get out on the bike lately, though the weight has stayed off through the winter despite the odd dietary slip. I'm consuming more product but keeping it to mainly health things, and have developed a taste for teriyaki chicken rolls with stacks of Wasabi (or the horseradish version we have here anyway). In the next couple of weeks I'm back on the bike three times a week after work @ 20km a go, and once daylight savings kicks in I will probably increase distance to 30km. By summer I should have disposed of another 10kg and will be a svelte 105 <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />

Just back from a 25km ride into the teeth of a nasty headwind blowing off the Snowies - had an old Canterbury long sleeve on over my BOP Mafia t-shirt with arm warmers, and nix and leg warmers. Still cold for the first 5km until my sweaty carcass caught up with itself.<br />
<br />
NTA is stuffed but the time was about 1 hour 15 min which is pretty good for someone who hasn't been on the tredley in over 3 weeks. 20km/h on a crappy $400 MTB with basic Shimano 3-7 gearset is not a bad effort I reckon. It certainly pisses me off when skinny arseholes on nice road bikes just hill climb straight past me :evil: But I'll get one for Christmas hopefully and ride the road instead of the bike track... -
Just rode a sub-60 minute 20km which is pretty good seeing as I was at snail's pace most of the way out. Felt really shagged up the first few hills but then turned it around. Mainly because I was pissed off at the track maintenance people for putting speed humps on my favourite downhill :tickedoff: Just because that particular part goes into a 90 degree right-left chicane down a 5 degree slope :tickedoff: Fuckers.<br />
<br />
Funnily enough it feels colder riding in August than it was back in June/July, even though the temp says 12 degrees :nta -
Dug up 20 square metres of garden bedding today to get rid of the weeds and kikuyu, then laid down new pine bark chips. My hands fucking hurt from swinging a mattock in the sun for a couple of hours. The dirt was fine but every now and then you find an old piece of concrete, brick, or other masonry that some thoughtful builder buried when constructing the place back in 2000 <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />
-
MUST go for a ride tonight. Did some pushups over the past couple of nights and chest is killing but with a kilo sneaking back on to the bottom line I desperately need to get back out on the bike and clock up some km.<br />
<br />
Will attempt a 20km ride tonight and go 25km early Saturday morning. Sunday should be digging up more garden space. -
Spent an hour chopping up part of our front yard this afternoon. There is so much disturbed ground out there now the the UN are going to be around shortly to look for mass graves!<br />
<br />
<br />
Manual field labour really sucks, the secret is to just think of something else I reckon :nta -

Awesome workout, though. Keep it up! Brownie points with the missus too, I suspect. -
<img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' /> Yeah the back definitely knows about it this morning Bobby! Missus will appreciate it only when I've made it look like the College lawns at Oxford or something <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':blink:' />

MvJ will bring the Fern around for a spot of croquet and cucumber sandwiches in about six months time, and of course to charm and delight MTAÂ :happy:
-
Don't forget your straw boater and English Breakfast MvJ. No Earl Grey though - she hates that <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':blink:' />

Went for a 20km ride last night, and believe I've finally cracked the 48 minute barrier, which means average speed of 25km/h i.e. my first major goal after losing 10kg. Monday night dinner rocks for biking - it has become Steak n pasta night and seems to be the ideal fuel to work with.<br />
<br />
Now I guess I've got to start riding longer distances.<br />
<br />
Next goal: 25 km in an hour - build up endurance, while losing more weight. Was 111kg according to the scales this morning :happy: -
I can bring a boater along for you chaps.....used to be forced to wear one at school. Dunno quite why I still have it actually? :shifty: No I don't still wear it! <br />
<br />
Back on topic, Nick you've shown excellent dedication to your task, and I applaud your weight loss efforts, and also achievements in cycling speed goals. Top stuff. -
Thanks. Its a lot bloody easier since the night time temperatue crept back up into the teens I can tell you! <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':blink:' /><br />
<br />
The scale at home is a damn liar of course - always weighs a few kg under so I'm probably still 115 :nta -
The bike track I ride on has a couple of long stretches uphill Luigi - I get on next to a motorway exit so I start basically in a low-level area and have to ride my fat arse uphill for the first few km in any direction <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':blink:' /><br />
<br />
Mix it up between spinning and grinding depending how attacking I'm feeling <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' /> -
Been a while since I measured my carcass. My original measurements:<br />
<br />
<br />
Chest: 120cm (across the nip-nips)<br />
Gut: 117cm (belly button)<br />
Arse: 125cm (same level as the mummy-daddy button)<br />
<br />
<br />
:nta At present:<br />
<br />
Chest: 124cm (PLUS 4cm)<br />
Gut: 114cm (-3cm)<br />
Arse: 122cm (-3cm)<br />
<br />
No idea why that is, though I have been doing pushups of late and wasn't carrying a lot of muscle in the chest area at the start of the year. I will press on (pun intended)<br />
<br />
On the other hand, my original weight at the start of the year was around the 120kg mark, and I'm now consistently hitting 112 :happy: -
Just got back from a 20km ride. Again hit just below the 48 minute mark which is good backup from Monday night. I should have gone riding last night but was too stuffed. Early to bed I think as the last few midnighters watching rugby recordings got me in the doghouse :shifty: One should never be so tired as to misinterpret what the wife says first thing in the morning. She doesn't like it when I slam the car door hard enough to make Little Aussie cry :neutral:<br />
<br />
All solved with a bunch of roses and a heartfelt apology :happy: -
That's good work Nicky.<br />
<br />
How's 'Project New Road Bike' coming along? Christmas is coming so maybe a few hints dropped round the house...<br />
<br />
I would suggest a bit of running too. It'll be painful but the effect on your biking will be dramatic. The main reason I run is to get improvements on the bike, both from increased fitness and less weight. Shovelling 100+ kilos uphill on a bike is no fun, so any loss is going to make a difference. If you added one or two 5k runs a week to your regime, you'd love the impact it would have. -
Project Road Bike is on hold pending house renovation (second storey) and the subsequent mortgage increase. I'm working out a way to shoe-horn it into the mortgage though <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':blink:' /><br />
<br />
Yes will be getting into the running, and some touch footy if I can manage it, when the daylight improves. Like to do it down at the oval with footy boots on as I want to play next year :shifty:
