Not sure if this displays.
Masked gang marching chanting Allhu-Akhbar escorted by British police officers and a 'legal observer' (and by escorted I don't mean in the arrested sense) camera turns and a masked thug advises they are coming for TR.
But TR is of course the dangerous one here.
I can't see this video - doesn't seem to work.
Do want to see it though, as this to me seems like once again officials are put in between a rock and hard a place. Here are what I see as the facts - again, this video may contradict some of these, and please let me know if so. Appreciate a 19:43 long video posted after which may clear some of this up, but don't have time to watch that
- TR organised a campaign for his Euro Elections in Oldham
- Police arranged a strong presence there, due to expected conflicts.
- An opposition group, called the Muslim Defence League (MDL) also arranged to attend and oppose the campaign
- It ended in a lot of violence, with Police escorting TR away, and releasing the following statement:
*“Everyone has the right to free speech and we will always do our best to facilitate this so people can exercise this right in a safe environment.
. “This evening, people took advantage of this and turned to violence, throwing objects including eggs and bricks. We understand that many of those involved were not from Oldham. Whoever is responsible, this behaviour will not be tolerated by GMP, our partners or the people of Oldham.
. “Police officers responded quickly to the disorder and dispersed those involved. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt and damage was only caused to vehicles.
“Now the incident has come to a close and people in the area have dispersed, our attention turns to the investigation into the circumstances that surround it. Those involved can expect to be arrested and dealt with robustly.”*
So if I'm reading correctly ... in that video does that show the MDL guys being escorted to the demonstration by the Police? And that is then being interpreted as the UK Police assisting in causing violence?
You left out one part.
Once the MDL started lobbing projecticles the police stood around and watched.
They were understaffed and outnumbered forcing non-engagement, disarming, and possible arrest.
The MDL met attendance with fire.
MDL at fault. This wasn't a political discourse between two opposing groups with opposing views.
From what I've seen and read it was a targeted attack by the MDL.
I may be wrong.
