    Do you think if I lob left arm spin with a tennis ball against the wall of my apartment it will have any effect? The last time I played cricket I bowled three overs and it bloody near killed me.

    Following my usual routine of getting home at 7PM and then spending quality time with Little Aussie, one did not exit the house until just after 8PM, so it was too dark to head down the nets and bowl. Instead, I engaged in something as close to torture as my fat carcass requires: sprint training. Note I use the term "sprint" in the loosest fashion available.<br />
    <br />
    Lap of the playing area (approx - they haven't marked the lines yet) followed by an attempt at RB's 22/50/22/100 thingy. WIthout line markings I decided to count paces instead, so 15/30/45/60. I got to the "30" bit and nearly blew my own head off so decided to stop. Then with rests in between I did 80m, 80m, 100m, 20 crunches, 10 pushups, 100m, 80m and walked home. Achilles tendon in my right ankle was a bit twitchy, and right shin is somewhat splinted. Suspect I may be rolling that ankle somewhat as a result. I should probably time my sprints but lack a decent stopwatch, and the results could be embarrasing :shifty:<br />
    <br />
    Sprinting beats the shit out of jogging though... And wearing the cricket unders was also of great benefit to prevent chafing in regions you all don't need to think about.

    After yesterday's successes job hunting I decided to treat myself and Mrs TA to pizza for dinner last night. A strange thing happened - I got about half a pizza in and felt FULL <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> And I STOPPED EATING <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Usually I'd knock off a pizza easy but the excess carbs just bloated me right up. And here's the great bit - despite doing no exercise yesterday beyond walking around the CBD I was down to 115kg this morning at the official post-leak weigh in :happy: :happy: :happy: <br />
    <br />
    As for the pizza - had two and a half slices for lunch and then just lost interest. Big change for me.<br />
    <br />
    Bought myself a pair of CCC footy boots today for $50 (down from $170 - not bad) - Tane-toa is the model I think and they're a snug fit. Going to take them down the oval this arv/evening to have a kick and run around. Boot lacing has changed remarkably since I last bought a pair <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    It is amazing, isn't it? I have half a can of creamed corn in the fridge which I can't even bear to look at finishing, so high is the sugar content. Wanna swap for the pizza?  😁

However the local pizza lot actually do a pizza with creamed corn on it so if ever you find yourself out in our western suburbs wasteland we'll make sure to see who can eat the least <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    NTA is displeased with himself - he should have worn better socks when trialling his new boots. 20 minutes into it I've got 1 blister the size of a 20 cent piece on my right heel. Better forethought - and the purchase of some new socks - will be required in future.

    Some grease on the heel part works well Nick - just while you're wearing them in.

    Try the Carl Rackemann method; especially if you're bowling: Two socks on each foot. Both thick.<br />
    <br />
    Lots of help, especially if you plan on doing more than an MVJesque amount of bowling and have a run up longer than 2 m.

    Good point. Will try that out. Must be something about my running style that promotes the right heel to blister over the left. My other runners also wear out first in this area...

    Well this is weird - the only exercise I've done in the last few days is walking here and there - maybe only a few km per day at the outside.<br />
    <br />
    Yet I am down to 114kg - [edit] just under [/edit] 18 stone on the old scale :nta That is down 1kg from the official weigh in a few days ago. The only thing I can theorise is that my metabolism is out of first gear and doing some work for me. I've also been pretty good on the eating side....

    Weighed in again this morning to check if it was a fluke - nope, still 114kg. Mrs the Aussie said our scales weigh a bit on the low side, but I told her to sod off and that I was interested in relative weight loss - 6kg is 6kg.

    NTA's exercise this weekend consisted of mowing the lawn, doing a bit of pruning and re-potting some trees. NTA did not make it to the Oval today, but did make it to The Cricketer's Arms and proceeded to be ripped off for lunch. The beer was good though as they have Guinness and James Squire on tap. Sitting in the sun drinking beer, perving at Mrs TA and her friends. Not bad, except the heat stroke wasn't the stroke I was looking for <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /><br />
    <br />
    Tomorrow's plan is to take the day off as NTA has an Important Job Interview that afternoon. The morning will be seeing Mrs TA and Little Aussie off to their respective places of employ, and then going for some running and kicking practice in the new boots before it gets too hot. Then crash out and rest before said interview in the city.

    Lap of the playing area, a heap of kicking practice (tee, dropgoals, line kicking), and a short sprint session reveals three things:<br />
    <br />

    1. The blisters are here to stay<br />
    2. The boots are nice and grippy on the wet surface<br />
    3. NTA's kicking (tee, dropgoals, line kicking) needs a lot of work <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    NTA hopped on the scales this morning to show 113kg. Smart eating has been the go of late as exercise has been curtailed by injury. The blisters are healing nicely and NTA should be back in the saddle by the weekend.
