    • RE: RWC: All Blacks v South Africa (Pool B)

      Hi all,

It’s funny how some things never change, back in the fern for the first time in a long hiatus and all the usual suspects are still active... respect.

Anyhoo tough game and happy to have that out of the way with a win. South Africa were impressive, had arguably the wrong tactics in the first half when they had decent ball, but will happily take that.

Scott Barrett was immense early on and Ardie was a machine and George Bridge reminds me of a young Ben Smith/Cory Jane with his aerial nouse.

For any if the foreign media/coaches complaining about rough calls, clearly Garces missed a lot from both sides, we just converted more of the opportunities we had even with little early ball and am glad the debarkle surrounding Sam Cane HIA didn’t cost us.

Saying all that the Boks weren’t bad when they opened up and Kolbe had fricken spiders on him. If they actually decide to play attacking rugby, we may see them later in the comp.

Great win, still have work ons, which we want including our scum and line out. I know it was extravagant but would love to see them try the move with the throw to Reece again, if executed that would have really created gaps.

Lastly, I had the team leaked via a friend the night before, I called BS but for the first time ever this tip was spot on. It still could have been luck, but if correct they said Retallick could have played if required. Expect to see him back soon then.

Cheers all, thanks for the views, loving it sitting in an airport.

Why? It's on the other side of Australia and their "defence" is a basket case.

I suspect that it is building a better diplomatic relationship so that we have trade access to nearly 1.4 billion people, and an insurance policy if we lose the other 1.4 billion that we aren't getting on all that well with.

Apart from wood, there's not much India would want from NZ. Certainly they aren't importing milk products like China.

how about a WTC championship? 🙂

    • RE: Happiness Scale

I hate this thread, well thats a lie, I find it therapeutic, I think I just find it difficult to process some of the shit that others go through and appear to be so resilient about it and then when reflecting on my wife and I and how we should be doing better.

January on a whole is a tough month mentally for her and she hates her job, but she likes the income and proximty to home, she would leave but has anxiety about finding another job. Its also the anniversary of my wifes Mothers death today which is another trigger of my wife's depression and also she is currently injured, so she cant exercise either so it gets worse.

So things not so great right now at home

Cant say I always like what I do either and I have terrible hours, probably need a long break (which would help both of us) and a change, but I like the money.

Some inspiring words in this thread, although putting it into practice isnt always so easy

...hoping to be more positive next time

Anyone expecting big changes tomorrow should probably have a think about who the selection panel is.

I would suggest there will be no changes to the backs and but there could be a couple of changes in the forwards probably only daddy duties and concussion the only real changes, namely 8, probably 5 and 1. Bench could be interesting though

I will probably know soon enough if official timing is tomorrow

If the sauce is indeed the correct ingredient, then the guess above turns out to be very accurate, sorry wont post until later as too many journos have enough time to create stories this early. Fill in the blanks for starting XV, that was quite easy. If anyone correctly predicts the bench though they get a virtual beer, I didn't, most will get close, but in its entirety may not be so easy. Should at least create some fun for the afternoon.

Anyone who is at the supermarket and needs to buy a knife.

I bought a knife for cooking from the supermarket when I was at uni. Another time was while getting food for an unplanned picnic. Both of those scenarios would have been negatively impacted by this. Probably also have got a pair of scissors (which I think they also removed from sale) from there before as well.

No uni student needs 2 x knives and a pair of scissors, I'm reporting you as a potential terrorist

I dont know, as a uni student 2x knives and a stove was very popular 🙂

      Urgh uninspiring

And Walsh heading back to the Broncos. Great trade off that. Seems Aussie players have really battled with the idea of the Warriors being a NZ based side.

oh shit, CNK with Walsh would be ok, but losing Walsh is not great..

well he was in the coaching box on Sunday with Stacey already, so I can see where those rumours came from

Kevin Campion given a pass to Sundays game by his old mate Stacey.

Kevin Campion invited to sit in coaches box for the game.

@mariner4life oh no, I reckon they can manage them off the bench, I'd be thinking somethign like moving SB to lock, Vai to bench, Akira to 6, HOskins to bench over PGS, Coles to bench, start ST.

I think they’ll continue to use ST off the bench with maybe a start against the Argies or OZ. Taylor or Coles to start

In my mind Foster will continue status quo unless something forces his hand..eg injury, supsension etc . I will be pleasantly surprised if it does change, but I do not share the same optimism

so in to the last bye round before the run home

The Panthers can be penned in to one GF spot, and it is who they beat that's up for grabs.

no question they finish top, team to beat

Melbourne are the obvious choice, but that is dependent on a mental reset after rep is done. Bellamy is the master so i don't yet count it out.
The Cowboys are balls deep in it. Would want to get themselves to 2nd and avoid the Panthers if possible.

Melbourne also know they need to finish second for the home game, Cowboys will push them though.
Mel : sharks, raiders, rabbits, warriors, titans, panthers, broncos, roosters, eels
      Cows: bye, sharks,tigers,dragons,bulldogs,roosters,warriors,rabbits,panthers

Given they are equal on points, the draw suggests Cows are favorites, Melbourne will have to play incredibly well and not rest any stars as they would traditionally would, just to finish second.

I don't think anyone else is good enough really. Cronulla, Brisbane and Parra are way to hot and cold, and lack that top end quality.

All of these three teams can knock off a top team. Inconsistency doesn't matter in a final. I would be wary of a Parra if they make the top four, as they already have a couple of big scalps. Both Cronulla and Brisbane on their day also have big games in them. None are as good as the top three in general though.

Then it's the teams fighting for the last spot in the 8, of which Manly currently look the best.
Canberra and the Roosters looked cooked.

Roosters are about get Matt Lodge and Latrell has an immediate impact for the bunnies. Both of these players could turn these teams around. Enough to win the comp?, I don't think so, but I do expect a late season charge.
Canberra can play a spoiler role, but not win anything, as would rest of middling sides

Then below them are the teams that have already sacked their coach, or are about to sack their coach.
The spoon is open. The Titans just, they just suck. The Tigers are awful. Yesterday doesn't change what i think about the Warriors. The Dogs look like they will avoid it. The Knights are shit, but slightly less shit than the rest.

I agree with this summary about the rest, I even suspect Gold Coast without a coach as well very soon. Spoon definitely open, Gold Coast have a pretty good roster, but they have just lost the plot completely and we all know how the warriors and the tigers are playing. Still a coin toss this far out.

@mariner4life absolutely, Im hoping to see more of the same from out outside backs helping our pack moving forward. Actually was probably best efforts from Pene and Bunty yesterday too, who have been very underwhelming.

Ironically the best player this year with Curran is Egan, Egan shovelled the ball on lots in previous seasons, but his active sniping has been very effective this year

      SJ is toast for sure
