Sorry I haven't scanned through this thread, but is anyone else watching Hell on Wheels? I started watching it last week and machine gunned the episodes. I like it very much. The characters are morally ambiguous, but interesting enough to keep me hooked.

Just finished the third season of Justified. Very glad I pushed through the mediocre start to the first season, as from the second half of the second season onwards it was compelling. I think it got better when the writers realised that you didn't have to kill somebody off every episode, or end the thing with Raylan winning yet another gunfight.

I enjoyed the finish to the 3rd series, resolved a few key plot points but still left a fair bit open.
Justified has become one of my must watch shows. I really like the dry, understated humour in it too.

I've just started watching Breaking Bad with our teenage son. I'm enjoying it. My son loves it and can't get enough of it. -

So I was watching Spartacus: Vengeance (yeah it's awful, don't).

And I happened to notice a former French (possibly Japanese) test player. Anyone else spot the resemblance?
I've watched all of them Don Frye. They were unashamedly B grade and I loved them. I enjoyed them more than Homeland (where I didn't like a single character or care what happened to them). At least the Spartacus crew aren't pretentious and there are some fine looking honeys in there. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> -

Watched the Pilot (Ep 1 & 2) of the Killing last night, certainly was enough to capture me to keep watching.

Game of Thrones - on the series, I feel it seems a bit more rushed than the first one??

Onto something in the 3rd episode...
NOw I cant recall alot being made of Laures Tyrell and King Renly actually being gay in the books, I thought it just had hints and alluded to it??
Therefore I was a bit surprised they had that whole gay scene, moreso when Renley is to be killed not long after.

Re: Tyrell and Renley - subtle in the books. Picked up by me in retrospect and not at the time. Hahaha. I was like: oh-kay. Not so subtle in the tv show. -

started on S3 of Justified, I have to say there are some very funny one liners littered throughout this show!

I think it was Nepia who mentioned Dickies character, he is almost a sidekick kind of character who you expect to get killed any time now as he has no importance to the overall story, despite the fact he does.
The lines on there are classic. Dickie is one of those characters where he's annoying and an idiot, but I'd kind of feel sorry for him if he bought it.

The conversations between Raylan and Boyd always crack me up, and I'm really quite fond of the Chief. -
Did you watch Kings, Jury? Ian McShane was entertaining in that too.
No. I haven't seen that one, Tim. Will put it on my watchlist.

I've been watching some crap lately - something about sharing the TV and all. When I want to chase them away, I put the motorsport channel on now. Works wonders in clearing a room. -
I've seen Mad Men and Deadwood. Really enjoyed them both. Took me awhile to warm up to Mad Men, but now I wouldn't miss it. I haven't seen Breaking Bad. I am saving it for when all the shows I watch end so I can do a major visual hit and enjoy it.

*Deadwood is the reason I watched Sons of Anarchy and Justified. -

Has anyone seen The Raid yet? It got pretty good feedback on Rotten Tomatoes and I could do with seeing a good action movie.
Yeah. I have. It's fricking awesome. I really enjoyed it, but I love those Asian action movies. I liked the fact it was light on exposition and just went for it. It's definitely worth a look. -

Anyone seen Lockout yet? Looks fucking awesome.
No, but I really want to. It does look fucking awesome.

Watched 21 Jump Street - I thought it was a bit long, but I did laugh my head off in some places. -

That just rocked . It would be great to have an event like that here but instead of wasting cars we could use John Minto , Sue Bradford and maybe a few paedophiles and drug dealers just to lift the numbers . I was part of a fire power demonstration as part of an Army PR thing for a bunch of people from Air New Zealand where we got to shoot the shit out of a hillside , it was great fun until our tracer bullets ignited the tussock on the hill and we had to put the fire out which took a while because all we had was our swandries to beat the rapidly spreading flames. Way to look uncool in front of a bunch of hot woman .
Swap Minto for John Banks and I could agree with that. (Except for making a cock out of yourself in front of hot women ... par for the course, CJ - just par for the course. Some of them find it lovable ...). -
I must say I'm not enjoying season 2 as much as season 1 (which I kept wanting to watch ep after ep). I'm finding it a bit disjointed (5 eps in), I don't find Martindale amazing but just annoying. I like it when it focuses on Raylin and Boyd the most, not so much on the Bennetts'.

In saying that I'm going to keep watching and I expect it will improve as the arc grows over the season. Winona is still hot!
Keep watching, Nepia. She turns out to be a fearsome woman and repercussions lead into the next season.

I prefer Ava to Winona. Ava's fiesty and loyal. Winona is a bit scatty and flighty.

BTW: I gave up on Homeland. I didn't like a single character in there and didn't care what happened to them. I've been watching all the Spartacus B grade crap instead. Excellent.

Haven't watched The Wire, but will. Ended up watching Alphas with our lad. It was okay. -
I heard my kids cheering in the lounge saying: you gotta see this, you gotta see this. I thought it might be some ghastly kitten/cat thing or anyone of the anime shows my son is into. Anyways, it was this:

Can't says I blame the kid. I actually cheered him on and got up to shadow box afterwards. Respect to that lad. -
I found it conflicting, despite both claiming to be based on historical facts, they are quite different, though still a good film (subtitled)

Also started on Clash of Kings, slotted seamlessly alongside GOT, seems a fair few new characters to get to know as well.
I really enjoyed Mongol. I think the Japanese actor, Tadanobu Asano, was brilliant in the title role. For me this filled in some of the blanks that Iggulden's series didn't include, like Temujin's relationship with Jamukha which was essential to his rise to power as some of the others.

It was, however, a bit more "mystic" than the books and I prefer the human elements of a story than the spooky woo-woo, but that's just me. -
Really worth a watch. Must see just for Margo Martindale's performance. Season 3 start here on Jan 17th, can't wait.
Me neither. I really enjoyed Justified. Haven't watched Homeland yet. Will have to catch up on it. It sounds like a goody and I've been saving Breaking Bad up for awhile now. Must watch that one too. It's been recommended by heaps of people. -
I don't know if this would be everyone's cup of tea, but Mrs Jury bought a book called Wulf Hall. I saw the title, picked it off the book shelf and started reading it. I thought she must have got some fantasy fiction that I hadn't heard of. Anyways, it's about Cromwell's rise to power under the Tudors. It's written from Cromwell's point of view and when Henry first meets Anne Boleyn. I really enjoyed it and I thought the writer did well because ... well, we all know how it turns out, but I give her props for writing events as they unfolded from Cromwell's point of view without letting future events cloud the work.

There's going to be a sequel and I'll grab it. If you like historical fiction, this might interest you. -
I romped through Martin's works after it was recommended on here. They have been great. I read Dance as an ebook. Will definitely get a hard copy, but I couldn't wait for it.

At first I was disappointed with it because it left so many threads hanging, but on reflection, it was a good read. Can't wait for the next one. -
Just found out Supernatural Season 7 has started. I like that. It's better than the Nancy vampire crap that is all the rage. Our daughter now commandeers the TV as well. Jeepers creepers: I have been known to sit through - The secret circle and Pretty Little Liars (I don't normally want to throttle teenage girls, but I would be happy if the show ended with all of them being locked away forever with the Carmelite nuns). I never thought I would say this, but I actually miss the Hannah Montana phase and Spongebob Square pants!
Is Ringer any good?
It's okay eh. I'm not 100% taken with it, but it's an alright show to pass the time. I wish they'd hurry up a bit in resolving or explaining some things, but apart from that, it's alright. -
We've been watching Haven, Downton Abbey (god help me, I really like it - like tape if I might miss it like it), Community, Modern Family (probably my favourite comedy on at the moment), and Spy. I've cheated on Sons of Anarchy. Looking forward to the new season. Caught up on Mad Men (I'm undecided on whether I like it or not). Seen some of Ringer with Buffy. I keep expecting her to kick ass with super human strength, but it doesn't happen.
