Is acupuncture woo?
I got a tender and painful lateral epicondylitus (tennis elbow) a couple of months ago. Couldn't grasp and carry things and thought about it many times an hour (When you get old there are infinite aches and pains and a hierarchy develops determined by how many times you think "that fucken knee" or "fuck that elbow hurts again")
Just completed 6 weeks of acupuncture for the first time , mostly to satisfy curiosity. 20-25 minutes each session with 4 needles poking out of the elbow under a heatlamp. You just lie there listening to headphones.
Felt it getting better over time, i.e. less noise from the conscience dwelling pain reporter, and overall bloody well done young Jack the chinaman.
A genuine option for muscular aches and strains I reckon
My ex got acupuncture when she was pregnant, the guy doing it damaged a nerve in the sole of her foot . I think the damage was permanent too, maybe not as effective on cloven hoofs?
I take it it didn't cure her disposition either?
Hell no .

From the article , no cameras just data harvesting. Interesting that M4L went straight to cameras though
Standard Innovation, which produces the We-Vibe line of vibrators, has reportedly agreed to pay out close to $3 million as part of a settlement agreement with customers. As the Chicago Tribune reports, the proposed settlement would establish the multimillion-dollar pot for device owners whoâd downloaded the control app, We-Connect, and used it with their toyâor up to $10,000 each. The company agreed to set aside another $750,000 for those whoâd bought toys but never messed with the app, or a possible $199 each.
Under the settlement, which awaits court approval, the firm also agreed to cease collecting personal user information and email addresses from device users, and to destroy related data itâs collected to date. It further stipulates that Standard Innovation will inform users about any anonymized data collection in the future, and allow them to opt out.

In December, the We-Vibe Marketing Communication Manager Denny Alexander commented on the industryâs ongoing attempts to make sex-toy data work for everyone (including privacy advocates). During a company launch event at New Yorkâs Museum of Sex, he told me that, beyond being needed for the We-Connect app to function, some anonymized data from users goes a long way in helping toy designers hit the mark.
âItâs a private, insular world, [mostly] without the benefit of consumer insights,â Alexander said. When it comes to data on usersâ preferred settings and such, a mass-aggregated version serves âonly to validate and reaffirmâ what designers have previously learned from experts and testers, he added. âIt gives us a general sense of usersâ [vibration] intensity levels, steadiness of mode, and whether weâre marketing to the right people.â
According to the Tribune, roughly 300,000 have bought We-Vibe devices that are covered by the settlement, while closer to 100,000 downloaded and used the companyâs corresponding app. Alexander reportedly called the settlement âfair and reasonable.â
