@Machpants agreed. but i am not at my best first thing in the morning, so convenience is a fairly big factor
One of the "does it all" machines is the way to go. Mine cost a mint but I've had it for nearly 20 years. Push coffee button, drink coffee.

Just made a long black, for science, took me 1:30, and it's not hard. Admitedly when you go all girly and put milky frothy gunk in, it takes longer
i have never seen more gay innuendo in one thread on the fern.
Coincidence he also mentioned grinder?

@Rancid-Schnitzel god, i missed my Nespresso order and had to use the cheaper version the other day. tasted like dirt. never again.
Some are really shit, but Lor is ok. As long as it's strong I really don't care too much.
Had Starbucks once and that was weak as piss. MacDonalds is surprisingly good.
A Starbucks has opened on my walk to work - they have $3 bagels, I might stop in one day and grab a bagel and coffee as I’ve never tried their coffee so it’s hard for me to join in on giving them a kicking without knowledge.

Their other stuff looks pretty good. The wife once got something called a Piccolo Latte which I tried some of. Was actually nice but no way am I going to say Piccolo Latte without a gun to my head.

@mariner4life No idea, I only drink espresso or long black. I think any espresso with milk is at least half way Cupid Stunt
Oh come on, surely you've been to the UK? I drink long black in NZ but soon learned that wasn't the way to go over here. Puke emoji
Drink 3-5 coffees all before noon. I just hardly ever feel like a hot drink after that, although occasionally feel like a tea. I'm one of those piston wristed gibbons who can drink coffee whenever and still go to sleep. Espresso martinis are ace!

Espresso martinis are ace!
amen brother!!
after a day at the races one year we all went out for dinner. i had 3 of them pre-dinner, ramping up for a night out. straight after dinner everyone flaked and we all went home. Even after a day on the beers i couldn't get to sleep for fucking ages

Finally my specialist subject...
I'm a real coffee snob, Up until 10 months ago when I was living in Auckland, I was drinking purely specialty coffee - long blacks or filters - 3 to 4 cups per day.
Favorite place was BE Specialty in Auckland. Many specialty coffee places have single origin for their filter (lighter) roasts, but BE also roasts single origin for their espresso (darker roast) based coffees. With filter single origin's you can really taste the complexities of the coffee - not quite so much with the espresso roasts but still different (often fruitier) flavors.
Coffee snob credentials - my wife and I went on a trip to Tokyo, just so I could try out the place that was supposed to make the best espresso in the world at Bear Pond Espresso. The owner pulls all the coffee's himself, and limits himself to only 30 espresso's per day (you can get other milk based coffee drinks) and generally does not make any after 1pm as the air pressure changes means that he can't get it just the way he wants. Here I am there:
and here is my espresso. A few rich thick syrup dribbles, no more than half an ounce sitting in the bottom of the cup.
Since I moved back to Napier and I've cut down to one coffee per day, filling the gap with green tea to get my caffeine fixes. While Napier was the founding place of Flight specialty coffee, they moved all that to Wellington. Georgia cafe does a decent pour over filter coffee (and has just started offering bottomless batch brewed filters), so if I am in town I try one of those. They are supposed to be opening up their own roastery in Onekawa by the end of the year, so will need to check that out.
I've got myself a cold brew drip system - you put coffee in the middle, ice/iced water above it and at a rate of about 1 drip per seconds takes 6-7 hours to make a pot of cold brew. Very tasty and the cold water filtration removes much of the acidity out of the flavor of the end product. That is my go to coffee drink in summer, as it lasts over a week in the fridge without losing any taste. Plus it makes my kitchen look like a meth lab...

i bought a stove top/moka pot and grind my own beans(yes i know what i said) best thing is its not a expesso .i good machine costs a bomb and cheap ones are shit.pot cost about $100 stainless steel they are now over$200 grinder cost more than the pot.and i can have an expesso when im out.

@Stockcar86 keen as for that!
-

This chick in Cairns has a stall selling the fucking best Ca Phe Sua Da you have ever tried. Cold brew drip coffee as explained below, served over a fuck ton of ice, with milk and condensed milk.
In Cairns in summer it is the best thing you have ever had in your mouth. Ever.

Do you know Benny? He’s a top bloke. When I was retired I used to go into Georgia every day but now I’m working out of Hastings I hardly ever get there. Artisan in Hastings is good. The owner roasts all her own beans and they have a lady barista who is shit hot.

- No
- I’ve obviously never thought of Carissa in that way as I only value women for their minds. And she’s 36 years younger than me.
