@kirwan reading through them now
Marvel just seems more committed and confident, even ones that have been received more poorly than the DC films...they dont can them, tweek the angle, change the director, maybe replace an actor..carry on with the plan
see the Thor film or Hulk
interesting, they mention "The Batman" film with the riddler, was the Battinson Batman film originally what was planned for Batfleck?

Looks like both versions had the Riddler as the main villian. He's the one that solves the anti-life equation, so he's key in the Snyder storyline.
Warner Brothers panic after a film makes 800 million at the box office, says everything.
-
@kirwan i guess this is originally from several years ago, and so Battinson's film might not have gone ahead if Batfleck's had
they even had a chance to try and resurrect it after the JL re release and people spend millions to Re watch it...nope

The current Batman is a rework of what was going to happen, Reeves came on board when Affleck was still Batman.

reading through it, my only issue is JL2 feels like one long montague, all of them seperate
Aquaman and WW's stories definitely feels like they should be part of their own solo films rather than interlaced with the JL
edit: hold on, Bruce and Lois hook up in this world?

That's generally how babies are made, yes.
That's certainly a bum note, IMO. But Batman certainly got around in the comics, just doesn't really fit with Lois.

does seem a bit out of character, and after superman had come back from the dead or was this supposed to have happened between SvB and JL1?
ok, JL2 was a bit....meh...but would have 100% watched JL3
Honestly the biggest thing that might have killed the idea...the fact that is was a superhero film relying on timetravel to beat the big bad after they had already "won"...a year after Endgame came out, you can see the reviews now regardless of how well it was done
would read it if they released it as a book

Yeah, be a good comic. Flash is always fucking with time (is in his next film too), so that's not a surprise.
-
@kirwan of course, but whilst not copying (in fact probably more suitable for flash to time travel than the Marvel character), a large portion of the movie going populous will only have seen the films and so it will look a little similar. I can definitely see my wife asking why they need to go back in time again, iron man already did it didn't he? plus darkseid and thanos having a passing resemblance to some casual fans etc
-
Is anyone watching/watched Peacemaker? I'm only watching weekly so have seen episodes 1 and 2 so far. I like James Gunn's humour and he always has interesting music in his films/shows. Great fun.
And how can you not love the intro in the opening credits.

@bovidae haven't even watched suicide squad yet
Me either, so I was going in blind for this series.
-
@bovidae really? i assumed you'd need the introduction, WB probably think theyre doing something clever by making these so you can jump into the DCEU anywhere but really, for some of us anyway, i just dont have that extra motivation to watch, fear of falling behind
I had several friends catch up on the whole MCU during lockdowns etc

I don't think you need to see it first but it does spoil some parts of the movie.
I like The Peacemaker, but discussion about it on another forum raised my expectations way too high and I was expecting a masterpiece. It's a good adult comic book show, not as good as Deadpool or The Boys but still good fun to watch as expected from something from Gunn.

I think you do need to at least see the second suicide squad movie for context. You can get away without it of course but it certainly helps.
As for your second point, yep there is a lot of adult humour but not The Boys level for sure, still I am enjoying watching
Jack Reacher starts today too with they guy who plays Hawk from Titans as the lead, wont be for everyone, but thought he did ok there (I did not stick with Titans though lol)
