What is the deal with the cod? Surely he could replace that with salmon or turkey or something.

If it were me I'd be having Fish, Salmon, Trout, Fresh Tuna instead of just 'Cod' -

I'm pretty big on eggs, have 3 whole eggs plus 3 egg whites for brekky every morning with some bacon. Egg whites are an easy option as you an buy them as just liquid egg whites at $7 for 30eggs worth from the supermarket. One of these lasts me a week as often have a omelette or something else i use the egg whites in.

As for cod....i was gonna say due to it being cheap but hell the rock wouldnt be worried about that. So dunno. My fish intakes pretty solid - mainly tuna, snapper and salmon but not usually more than 2 serves a day.

And yep, the prep requirements makes a diet like this harder to maintain for us mere mortals. I'm on 7meals a day (1 or 2 though are usually just whey + a carb source) and find that unless I prep well on sunday evenings then the week can be a bit shit. Even then, each night before bed I gotta make sure I'm sorted for the next day given that meals 2, 3, 4 and 5 are consumed while at work. If I'm not prepped then I'm forced to go buy sushi etc to get me through.
-

It's "the fish that changed the world." (And a terrific book.)

I'm curious to know if Rock is eating Atlantic cod or Pacific cod. I presume the former. They're two completely different fish. The Altantic cod lives years longer, gets to about twice the size and 4 times the weight.

Also provides more protein per gram/oz than the Pacific variety. One 10 oz fillet of Atlantic cod provides about 64 grams of protein, vs the same 10 oz serving of Pacific cod which offers about 53 grams.

And really, it's quite tasty.
-

Great book, although IMHO Salt is better. At the Basque History of the World is bloody good too - which is basically a trilogy of books that all link that he wrote after starting with Cod. Oddly enough I've tried to read another couple of his books and they've been extremely poor in comparison.
-

Meal 6 - chicken, brown rice, salad

Meal 7 to come before bed - 5 or 6 weetbix with protein shake rather than milk. -

Don't have a meal plan as such but have daily calorie and macro goals and then an approach where I time my carb intake to later in the day (generally meals 5, 6 and 7), except for post training where I have carbs in my post workout shake.

Mon and Tuesday I aim for 3000 cals, weds and thurs 2700 to 2800, Friday 3500cals. Sat and sun are non training days usually so 2500cals which is pretty much my base line.

Each day I aim for 200grams protein, 70 to 80grams fats and then fill the rest with the amount of carbs required to meet my calorie target for the day. Sounds way more complex than it is but actually quite easy, especially if you know what's in your food. As a general rule though I don't eat much bread or milk at all but I'm pretty loose at the moment given I'm trying to grow and not chasing abs. Come September I will get a lot stricter as I try lean out for summer. -
I should really try and study that kind of thing more, but I find that my brain goes on leave every time I do. Serious respect for anyone who can follow it through.
