@Canes4life so for your match day 23 you posted for next week against the Chiefs you would have to change PUJ or Sullivan out for Clark ..i suspect your coach will pick Riley Hohepa , oh for a Jon Preston type player who could play 9 or 10

There’s also Banks and Sinkinson available who can also play wing/fullback. Proctor has also played fullback a few times so he can slot in there if needed.

@No-Quarter dunno why we continue to be surprised with these calls...
This one not upgraded, that one upgraded, all a joke really.
I always think of what Cane got sent off for in a RWC final when im comparing these incidents.
And im just left shaking my head. Farcical.
I have to be honest, I'm falling out of love with the sport.
The decision, and Kolisi surviving an arguably more dangerous hit ruined our chances for a RWC win. It is one of many occasions, for us and for other teams. The refs and video replay are a total lottery and it is bad for the game
The Kolisi decision is the one that is genuinely most annoying to me. If Cane's was red, how was Kolisi's not? They should have just left both on the field with yellows and then dealt with it afterwards.
We give league shit for putting away their whistle in the big matches but this was a time we could have followed their lead, biggest game of the year, tight as fuck match, and they tanked it with hypocritical decisions.
Kolisi incident was worse - it looked to me like there was intent to hit and hurt Ardie

I thought Roigard was that player when he first hit the scene? Can't see that happening with the canes current stock though.

I know Proctor used to be a 15 but might be a stretch now. Sullivan has played a bunch on the wing, I imagine he would do ok at 15.
Anything to avoid having Hoepa on the bench, and just because you have him on the bench, doesn't mean you have to bring him on with 10 or 15 min to go.
Lets stop subbing off 9 and 10 at the end of games. And that was a straight red. Shoulder to the head with force. Don't care if it may have slightly hit Loves shoulder first, its still dangerous, no wrap and no attempt to get low, can't see how that could be anything different than red.

TBH I wouldn't mind giving TJay Clarke a spot on the bench. He was pretty impressive for the Lions in the NPC and deserves an opportunity at the next level. He's a fullback first but he can also cover wing so would be the most sensible pick. I'd then probably have Umaga-Jensen over Sullivan on the bench due to the fact he can cover 12/13.

Bit behind on this game, and haven't read the thread. A few things stood out for me:
Higgins and Proctor make an immediate difference to the side, despite the midfield not looking like a problem area before they came back.
Love is very skillful, but I haven't yet seen the vision I'd like. Harkin on the other hand does show vision, but skills/physicality let him down at times. Both show enough good touches despite the errors that it will be interesting watching their progress, and Godfrey, in the next couple of years. One probably needs to move to get more game time.
Shields is a bit of a defensive liability. Good tackler, poor reads.
I've not really been a Naholo fan, but he was very good. -

I've not really been a Naholo fan, but he was very good.I think what Higgins and Proctor showed compared to the Umaga-Jensen / Sullivan combo was more game smarts and the ability to manipulate space through footwork and distribution. Umaga Jensen in particular is very much a crash and bash type 12 and doesn't have the same passing game or speed to beat defenders through footwork. Sullivan was playing very well, but Proctor is a tad classier in everything he does in my view. The fact Proctor cleaned out 20+ rucks against the Brumbies shows the work he's willing to put in on both sides of the ball.
It will be interesting to see what they do with Godfrey when he comes back. He was probably one of the more standout performers for us in the early rounds. I'd consider bringing him back into the 10 jersey and move Love back to 15, with Harkin as the reserve. However, if Love and Harkin play well on Saturday, Laidlaw will be tentative to make changes there.

@Canes4life Yeah Umaga-Jensen can make metres but his distribution and options just arent up to standard in my opinion
Godfrey will be a great addition and however it plays out it will hopefully mean Hohepa drops out of the 23. Wouldnt mind seeing Godfrey to 15 if Love playing well at 10, and Harkin to the bench. In saying that Godfrey was finding his feet at 10, so will be good to see some competition for that jersey.
As an aside - come 26, does a healthy Brett Cameron go back into the 10 jersey?

Brett Cameron
Probably, even though I'd rather persist with the likes of Godfrey or Love at 10.
