Thanks Bart. Its a tough life this winter exercise thing, but just like playing rugby on a frosty day - once you get into it, you hardly notice! Though rugby has the advantage of providing scrums to shelter in :nta<br />
<br />
Going to attempt a full 20km on Friday night before a Saturday night spent watching rugby and boozing it up in town... Then back on the bike Sunday before the Test kicks off <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' /> In the meantime, something that can be done in the shelter of home - pressups and abs.

OK, Friday-Sunday was a writeoff due to the shitty weather, but lo and behold not a cloud in the sky all day today, and being a public holiday I resolved to take in the 20km I so thoroughly deserve.<br />
<br />
Stumbling blocks today were my mate's collection of beer and the BBQ lunch we had at his place. Anyone here tried this stuff?<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Only 8% :shifty: and I had two of them. Not to mention the Hollandia (which tasted off) and Carlton Cold beforehand, and the home made Serbian Plum Schnapps (metho) afterwards. Bike ride was very hard, and I feel a wee bit dehydrated, but the ride is completed. Though its hard to work out the time it took because I stopped to give a statement to a nice policeman about the domestic altercation I saw riding the first leg of the run <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' /><br />
<br />
I left about 3:35PM and got back about 4:45PM, so taking out the 5 minutes for my statement and the 10 minutes getting the bike out, pumping the tires, and then putting it away, I reckon 55 minutes is alright. Pretty good considering I hadn't done a 20km stretch (with that much alcohol) in 2 months.

Went for a quick 5km hillclimb on the MTB to get the blood pumping. Hard to make time when you can pick up after hours work for a mate's business at $50 ph untaxed... :shifty: I like money.

Well I don't want to make him feel guilty about underpaying me now do I? <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> When he brings the beer I give him free hours <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' />

True Nick, very true, though there's no risk of that in this instance.<br />
<br />
Actually it can be uncomfortable working for your mates, and knowing what to charge them...well I find that anyway. Then when you do the right thing by them and undercharge, they go and fuck you proper by wanting shitloads of changes!? fluffybunnies. Still, at least when they're mates, you can tell them to go fuck their hat.

That's why I only charge about half the hours I do. If they start freeloading I can pull them up on it <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' /> In the end they can claim it as a business expense so no biggie<br />

Happy birthday to me. The big 3-0<br />
<br />
To celebrate, I went for a 20km ride and feel bloody good about it all things considered. About 50 minutes by my estimates.

Last night got in a 10km ride broken up by a visit to a mate's house where I finally figured out the issue with his wireless router. What a crappy technology.

Tonight I was pretty chuffed to put away 25km on the old MTB in around an hour on an alternate route. Fucking cold tho and I have to get some thermals so my nuts don't turn to ice in future.<br />
<br />
In other developments, Mrs the Aussie has knocked back my request for a decent road bike to clock up some serious km on - its the Trek 1500 on this page. Most of the bike's cost is the full Shimano Ultegra fitout which is perfectly understandable... to everyone except Mrs the Aussie. At that price, anyone in Sydney who needs a decent road machine should get in there and snap one up.<br />
<br />
Don't bother spending the money on the carbon rig - a mate of mine has a Scott CR-1 and one of the Madone's and likes neither of them. Then again, his other bikes are a Merlin Cyrene and his brand new Merckx with full Shimano Dura-Ace. Rich prick.

An attempt at another 25km was aborted today when I got a huge fucking migraine starting at 10AM and running until 3PM. Still feel like shit and will endeavour to hop on the bike tomorrow.

OK, finally got back on the bike yesterday. A gentle 20km as I had a mate with me who is not a regular on the bike. Besides that, fuck all.

The weather has stopped being so fucking cold so after 9 days sitting on my fat arse I went out again for a short 12km stint and felt good about it. Right knee is acting up a bit as I twisted it the other day. Hopefully the colder weather stays away this week and I can get a head start on summer.<br />
<br />
I haven't done sustained regular exercise since February - only the odd ride every now and then - and have maintained my weight around 113kg which is a good sign but I probably lost a bit of muscle tone and put back on a little fat in there.<br />
<br />
If I start up exercising again regularly on the bike then I'm aiming to smack another 10kg off my arse in short order. Much easier to do once Spring is here of course <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

Ha! I've been using "it's too cold" as an excuse too. As you and I both know, come summer it's impossible to do any exercise whatsover because of the heat, so bite the bloody bullet 🙂 I got suntanned to buggery playing touch today I might add in the midday sun. Being public servants we were able to play for an extended period in our lunch "hour".

Yes it gets a bit warm in summer but riding the bike at least gives you long downhill stretches to cool off <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /><br />
<br />
Don't get too attached to the public service. There are only so many Dickhead Hours per year that upwardly mobile young legal eagles like you can take before going through the place with a semi-automatic weapon and a machete <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />

On the contrary, I am sure the time away from the keyboard will see him lose a shedload of weight in short time.

Nope. Too farking cold and wet to get out on the bike lately, though the weight has stayed off through the winter despite the odd dietary slip. I'm consuming more product but keeping it to mainly health things, and have developed a taste for teriyaki chicken rolls with stacks of Wasabi (or the horseradish version we have here anyway). In the next couple of weeks I'm back on the bike three times a week after work @ 20km a go, and once daylight savings kicks in I will probably increase distance to 30km. By summer I should have disposed of another 10kg and will be a svelte 105 <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />
