Fatbastarding: NTA log
-
Speaking of peanuts, did you want a blow-by-blow of my battle with this super soft-serve or what? <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' />

<br />
Went out for a quick 5km ride to test the new cycling strides I bought, and I think I'll get the thicker ones thanks.... along with gloves, balaclava, and parka. Bloody cold out there.... -
Bloody soft, more like! Toughen up ya big homma. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' /><br />
<br />
Good work Nick, if you can keep the fitness going through the unpleasant colder months, then we should be encouraging you....so well done. <br />
<br />
Keepin it real! :happy: -
Oh fuck. NTA is well off the fatbusting rails after what could only be termed a massive night out ... lost track of the exact number of rum nips but NTA knows it was 5 before dinner, 3 with, and then :-k ... :shifty: well it feels like another 15 or so since. At The Fishbowl some bastard started buying doubles and then at Empire... well, let's just say that NTA definitely doesn't know how many Jaegermeister shots he had either ... snuck into the house at 4.45AM, smelling like a Bundaberg molasses tank and drier than a nun's nasty... NTA did not have the requisite willpower to get on the bike and detox himself with a 20km ride this morning, so now NTA is living with the consequences.<br />
<br />
All I can say is thank fuck my bladder was full when I got on the Nightride Bus service just after 3AM - I had to exit rather rapidly approximately 12km from home and only managed to get a taxi after running/walking the first 2km. Had I not done that small amount of detox I'm quite sure I'd be in the foetal position right now, believing that better ways to die could include conversation with Phooey...<br />
<br />
And in further developments - there will be birthday celebrations for me next weekend at the Red Oak beer cafe here in Sydney, and I may not be able to resist the urge... :shifty: -
OK, bought myself some warm biking gear - gloves and leg warmers by Pearl Izumi - and forced myself out for a quick 10km tonight. Legs and hands were warm all the way! Old (tight) rugby jersey with long singlet underneath stood up well to the cold and once I lost feeling in my face and ears everything was sweet. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' /><br />
<br />
Got home, had a protein shake, and feeling pretty good about myself. Gonna sleep like a baby tonight... -
Thanks Bart. Its a tough life this winter exercise thing, but just like playing rugby on a frosty day - once you get into it, you hardly notice! Though rugby has the advantage of providing scrums to shelter in :nta<br />
<br />
Going to attempt a full 20km on Friday night before a Saturday night spent watching rugby and boozing it up in town... Then back on the bike Sunday before the Test kicks off <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' /> In the meantime, something that can be done in the shelter of home - pressups and abs. -
OK, Friday-Sunday was a writeoff due to the shitty weather, but lo and behold not a cloud in the sky all day today, and being a public holiday I resolved to take in the 20km I so thoroughly deserve.<br />
<br />
Stumbling blocks today were my mate's collection of beer and the BBQ lunch we had at his place. Anyone here tried this stuff?<br />
<br />

<br />
Only 8% :shifty: and I had two of them. Not to mention the Hollandia (which tasted off) and Carlton Cold beforehand, and the home made Serbian Plum Schnapps (metho) afterwards. Bike ride was very hard, and I feel a wee bit dehydrated, but the ride is completed. Though its hard to work out the time it took because I stopped to give a statement to a nice policeman about the domestic altercation I saw riding the first leg of the run <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' /><br />
<br />
I left about 3:35PM and got back about 4:45PM, so taking out the 5 minutes for my statement and the 10 minutes getting the bike out, pumping the tires, and then putting it away, I reckon 55 minutes is alright. Pretty good considering I hadn't done a 20km stretch (with that much alcohol) in 2 months. -
Well I don't want to make him feel guilty about underpaying me now do I? <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> When he brings the beer I give him free hours <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' />

<br />
True Nick, very true, though there's no risk of that in this instance.<br />
<br />
Actually it can be uncomfortable working for your mates, and knowing what to charge them...well I find that anyway. Then when you do the right thing by them and undercharge, they go and fuck you proper by wanting shitloads of changes!? fluffybunnies. Still, at least when they're mates, you can tell them to go fuck their hat. -
That's why I only charge about half the hours I do. If they start freeloading I can pull them up on it <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' /> In the end they can claim it as a business expense so no biggie<br />
<br />
Back on topic: No exercise tonight dammit, unless Mrs the Aussie comes back from the shops as wet as an otter's pocket :whistle: -

I don't see how she couldn't with that sort of sweet talk getting busted out Romeo <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' /><br />

I need to go throw up now... -

<br />
Yet she continues to resist my rakish charms :nta I dunno...<br />
<br />
Bike ride planned for this evening. A quick 10km in freezing cold no doubt. -
Tonight I was pretty chuffed to put away 25km on the old MTB in around an hour on an alternate route. Fucking cold tho and I have to get some thermals so my nuts don't turn to ice in future.<br />
<br />
In other developments, Mrs the Aussie has knocked back my request for a decent road bike to clock up some serious km on - its the Trek 1500 on this page. Most of the bike's cost is the full Shimano Ultegra fitout which is perfectly understandable... to everyone except Mrs the Aussie. At that price, anyone in Sydney who needs a decent road machine should get in there and snap one up.<br />
<br />
Don't bother spending the money on the carbon rig - a mate of mine has a Scott CR-1 and one of the Madone's and likes neither of them. Then again, his other bikes are a Merlin Cyrene and his brand new Merckx with full Shimano Dura-Ace. Rich prick.
