Nobody say ever again that McClutchie doesn't/can't kick at goal!

Hawke's Bay led 14-7 at halftime and 35-7 with four minutes remaining.

Fullback Caleb Makene, first five-eighth Lincoln McClutchie, substitute hooker Jacob Devery, substitute loosie Iakopo Mapu and outside back Ollise Sapsford scored tries with all five converted by McClutchie.

This is the Auckland team for the preseason game on Friday. I hope they'll post the Magpies squad this time, too. The communication from the HBRU has been terrible again lately (even worse than before).

Auckland 7-0 after 10. 5m scrum HB dominated, Ruru took it off the back broke the tackle & stretched out to score. HB playing with significant breeze behind them 1H.

Hell 1.00pm is no time for a game of rugby. I am still trying to decide what to have for my lunch

7 all, dominant maul HB from 5m line. Auckland collapse over the line, penalty try.
Auckland regain kick off, Tele'a bumps few off easily offloads Rayasi draw & pass to Lam for easy try. 12-7 Auckland.

A bit of a risk startying with what are pretty much three opensides in our looseforward trio, although arguements could be made about Gareth Evens being equally adept in all three.

Rested: Isaia Walker-Leawere Any reason behind this as one of our three CCs who was also on the NZ Maori Team has been named on the bench. Speaking of which do we get some recognitioin in the Guiness Book Of Records for the most number of CCs named in a rugby team?

14-12 HB HT. Lineouts shambles for both teams with the wind. Auckland misthrow on there 30, Fakatava breaks 20. 7 or so phases in tight & Evans scores.
Rayasi standout for Auckland, breaking tackles at ease & constantly looking a threat. O'Connor impressive for HB, outstanding in the tackle & jackal space. Auxkland got the better of them in the backs, HB winning up front apart from scrumtime.

@trooa Did you see who took the conversion for HB? Was it our 10 or 12?

Weather was cold and wet in the first half. Sun trying to break through now, hopefully sticks around for the second.

Both teams using the ball despite the conditions.

It seems, there is some confusion about the score?

And I’m pretty sure it was the HB 1st 5 that took the conversion.

26-14 Auckland overlap wide, Rayasi fended off the fullback easily. Rayasi another try, wayward pass off kick return, Rayasi regathers stays inside despite a couple of tacklers to score again in the corner.
