SMH lists Tatafu Polota-Nau, Tom Banks, Joe Powell, Nick Phipps, Luke Jones, Tom Robertson, Pete Samu and Jack Maddocks as the notable misses.

Nick Phipps has been a bit shit for, well, ever really. But it's still a big move to dump him completely when he has been there forever. A good move, but big none the less

@Chris-B Pete Samu has played well this SR season, but pulled his hammy in the Quarter Final. I understand he has recovered from that injury, but they take Dempsey, who is currently injured. I don't quite get that selection.

I would have gone with both Jack Maddocks and Tom Banks over Haylett Petty and Ashley Cooper - those too just seem a bit long in the tooth these days. Would also like to see Petaia start at centre and O'Connor move to the right.

AAC probably just there because he has RWC experience. Haylett-Petty has been meh so I agree on his spot being weird.

@booboo Yep. Not sure how many loosehead props I would call "pilar izquirdo" to their face - just too close to "pillar is weirdo / queerdo". Which is also often true.

They didn't want to label Creevy a "Puta" which is fair enough. Quite derogatory and I like him. Great player.
"Ala" would probably work for wing.
I've got nothing for full back...Spanish isn't my fuerte but I do know that a piston wristed gibbon is a Pajero (or medio scum in a lot of cases).

My wife loves laughing at all the Pajero’s driving their Nissan Pajeros

But it was always reassuring when Phipps took the field against the ABs. It meant the game was already lost for the Wallabies, or was about to be.

It’s a good Aussie squad. 18 that are going to a RWC for the first time but most of those have a few caps under their belt.

Would have taken Maddocks ahead of Two Dads, but apart from that the Aussie Squad looks well-selected. Dark horses for the cup.

Yeah as much as I disliked AAC (due to him being an Aussie and quite good) he is probably past it - he will now of course score a winning try to knock us out.

Wouldn't say Aussies are dark horses, just one of many that are a chance this time.

It's interesting to see the makeup of the Wallaby team compared to the expected AB team. Cheika has selected only 2 halfbacks (again) but 3 1st 5s, and only 3 centres with plenty of outside backs (some who can also play in the midifeld). Hansen will likely pick more halfbacks than 1st 5s and 4 midfielders.

Thought this was pretty cool - getting about 20 ex-Wallabies to call the squad and tell them they're going to the Cup

This is a really cool idea and it would be cool if NZ adopted it with only former RWC winners making the call.

It would also be cool if we made more of an effort with the 100 cap ceremonies in terms of who presents them. Richie's set the standard but after that they've all been fairly pedestrian.
