Its about diet.

While I've been practising a lot of this already, I've probably been a bit slack as the weight has come off. An Aussie guy called Bova (Spartan Diet guy) got me started in this area but he recommended a lot more fruit than I'm comfortable eating.

I'd really like to get my wife and kids into this style of eating and see the benefits.
Interesting, the one thing I would point out that was odd was that in weight loss he claimed that low carb was more effective then low calorie in his speech then compared studies of low fat vs low carb diets. I would think that low fat is not necessarily equal to low calorie.

What I would have liked to see was a study of the blood glucose levels after eating different meals, across a greater population. For all we know he could be a freak.

From my personal experience I found that there comes a point when you lower your calories enough that there are things that you just wont eat due to the calorie to volume ratio just not being sufficient. Then there are things that you can monster, Mushrooms spring to mind. -
That was interesting. Thanks for posting - I think I'll spend some time on that guy's site, dietdoctor.
Early last year I lost tonnes of weight doing Paleo as well as a cross-fit-esque class. Unfortunately I then moved to the states and have found the temptation to go back to grains too great... -

I would say, looking at the meals he was comparing, the reaction is not atypical. Lots of sugar in the second one and not a lot in the first one.
