    Article about yesterday's club rugby:

    https://cdn.hbapp.co.nz/sport/sport/tamatea-record-first-premier-club-rugby-win-since-2018
Napier Old Boys Marist halfback Zach Donaldson and his Napier Technical counterpart Sheridan Rangihuna both put their hands up for Magpies selection during this Park Island encounter.

With Highlander Folau Fakatava out for the season either Donaldson or Rangihuna, who both have first class experience, could find themselves in contention for Magpies selection later this season if they continue to build on today's form.

Yuck, neither inspire me with confidence. I hope they can find a better options.

What other options are there though, other than bringing in someone from elsewhere??

@kiwimatrix After watching them play 1st XV a few years ago, I hoped Shamara Brooks or Humphrey Sheild would become good enough, but I haven't seen them play for a while, so I don't know how good they are at the moment. Maybe they'll never reach NPC level ...

If Alby Mathewson comes off contract (Ulster) and has nowhere to go, maybe ask him to come back? Where's Kahn Fotuali'; can he un-retire? 🤔

@nepia I bet the result made you happy. Good to see Tamatea getting increasing numbers of higher ranked players turning out for them. Presumably the celebrations at Waipatu were somewhat raucous, as they should be! Wonder how Gibbit's morning after recovery went?

I also used to play for Havelock North so had a bob each way.

My cousin has the property right next to the club rooms (I'm not sure if they still use them) so I'll check and see how raucous they actually were!

Nash Cup - Sat 17 April:

    Hastings RS v NOBM
    Napier Pirate v MAC
    Napier Tech v Taradale
    Central v Tamatea
    Clive v Havelock North

    From the article below:
Hastings will have Danny Toala at 12, but will miss Neria Fomai (Highlanders).
Taradale will miss Joe 'Apikotoa (Chiefs) and Caleb Makene (Highlanders).
All Hurricanes U20 players also missing, of course.
No mention of Pouri Rakete-Stones and Lolagi Visinia, but I assume they'll play as well.

Neria Fomai will be playing on the left wing for Green Island (Otago), tomorrow. Caleb Makene at fullback for Dunedin (Brad Weber and Gareth Evans will be happy with another Shark in the Magpies squad).

Haha, classic. Hasting scores a try just before half time. Connor McLeod takes his time having a few sips of water, before putting the ball on the tee for the conversion.

Scores, about 5-10 minutes into the second half:

    Hastings RS 27 - 12 NOBM
    Napier Pirate 0 - 7 MAC
    Napier Tech 10 - 12 Taradale
    Central 10 - 25 Tamatea
    Clive 17 - 14 Havelock North

    Napier Pirate 14 - 19 MAC
    Napier Tech 17 - 34 Taradale
