Are we about to see more than four HB players in the Canes 23 this weekend...😜

Hurricanes' Hawke's Bay contingent excited to play at McLean Park

Sitting top of the Sky Super Rugby Trans-Tasman points table, the Hurricanes are looking to make the most of the Western Force's decision to play one of their home games in Napier on Friday.

There were five Magpies in the Canes lineup v Chiefs, March 13, 2020, Hamilton.

Now are sights are set on six, which is eminently possible this Friday ...

@stargazer yeah that worked really well. Too well I think, remember Holland only likes mediocrity which is why we haven’t seen it since.

@number-10 who from HB is actually available for selection? is it Rakete-Stones, IWL, Flanders, Evans, Visinia and Toala? I don’t see why any of them wouldn’t be involved this week in some capacity.

@canes4life Couldn’t see why you couldn’t start all of them and just have the normal starters on the bench.

@mikey07 it’s the perfect game to do just that but doubt it would happen as the coaches will want to make sure we bank maximum points. On the other hand it’s a good chance to play guys who haven’t played all year so the usual starters stay fresh for the the last two games against the Brumbies and Reds. Who bloody knows, we will find out tomorrow I guess.

@canes4life adding on from my comments above I think they will pick something close to this: (still plenty of firepower but also a good chance to rest the usual starters)

    1. Rakete-Stones
    2. Aumua
    3. Lomax
    4. Scrafton
    5. Walker-Leawere
    6. Flanders
    7. Savea (c) heard he’s a good chance this week
    8. Evans
    9. Campbell
    10. Love
    11. Rayasi
    12. Laumape
    13. Umaga-Jensen
    14. Visinia
    15. Barrett
    16. Riccitelli
    17. Mafileo
    18. Fidow
    19. Mitchell
    20. Iose
    21. Roigard
    22. Toala
    23. Goosen

Rested: Coles, Blackwell, Prinsep, Kirifi, Numia, J Savea, Proctor

@canes4life I suspect you have got two positions hopelessly incorrect. The favoured two that inhabit jerseys 4 and 6 are never rested. Just for starters imagine the directionless shape of the team on the field if those two indispensable senior members of the leadership group are dropped.

@higgins you’re not wrong, and despite me ignoring them from the 23 above I’m sure they will be selected.

Nothing more certain than death, taxes and the Canes picking Blackwell and Prinsep.

@canes4life yup, unfortunately. I love reading fan 15's every week. They're always no where to be seen!

I like your team. I like them to keep picking Goosen though. I'd have him at 14.

FIFY. Or perhaps there are two Prinseps, one during the match and another at training?

I knew it! Fewer Magpies instead of more. F*ck, even Flanders doesn't get a chance to play in front of his home crowd.
Instead of Toala, Vince Aso gets his first game time.

Bloody geez, that f*cking incompetent lot has totally lost any touch with their local support base.

@stargazer i knew this would piss you off.

Yeah fairly ordinary from the Canes coaches but I guess they are consistent with poor selections.

If there resting players how come Prinseep is playing? also why bother putting Aso on the bench if he’s leaving better off giving Toala game time to get him to stay.

@stargazer Don't forget if the whispers I hear around the traps down here that the Hurricanes might just be the away team are true they probably feel no moral duty to play guys from the HB region on the very ground that they play their NPC on. In fact they are probably doing it deliberately so they can pee off the local fans so much that they do not turn up in decent numbers which they can them trumpet as another reason why they do not take home games up there.

I know if I was the coach of a pro team I would totally choose my 23 based around them being locals or not.

I wouldn't normally advocate for people to support the Crusaders, but considering your fandom of them:

    1. ISAIA WALKER-LEAWERE
    2. SCOTT SCRAFTON

    This is a minor miracle.

I'd love to see that team with Flanders instead of Prinsep.

I assume Love they're holding back another week just to make sure he's 100%. Fair call if so.

@mikey07 Toala must have really done something to piss off the coaches at training.
