I haven's seen team line-ups, but apparently there are more representative games, tomorrow.

    Whanganui v Hawke's Bay Saracens
    Cooks Gardens, Whanganui - k/o 2.30pm

    Central Hawke's Bay v Horowhenua-Kapiti
    Otane Domain - k/o 2.30pm

I vaguely remember that the HB Saracens U18 also plays games, but not sure whether that's already this weekend.

As per usual, no info on the HBRU website.

    Results (7 August 2021):

    Wairarapa-Bush Baabaas 7 - 22 Hawke's Bay U19

    Whanganui 7 - 14 Hawke's Bay Saracens

    Central Hawke's Bay 12 - 45 Horowhenua Kapiti

This is a match report of the Whanganui v HB Saracens game that I found on Whanganui Rugby's website:

Saw some posts on instagram. It looks like Jordan Thompson-Dunn has signed a contract with a Portuguese club. I don't know which one. I hope he'll come back and hasn't give up on a Magpies jersey, yet. He's still so young, but young players seem more impatient these days.

I think former (6-cap) Magpie Hayden Hann is still playing there.

    Final score:

    Hawke's Bay U19 26 - 43 Manawatū U19

The HBRU didn't post a team line-up, so no idea who played. The 10 wasn't Harry Godfrey.

Apparently our U18s played as well. They lost 26 - 28 to Wairarapa-Bush U18. No shame, considering they must have missed a lot of players, with Hastings Boys, Napier Boys and Lindisfarne all playing games this afternoon, as well. So must have been a third-string team.

Not sure whether the Hawke's Bay Saracens are still playing, this year. The silence of the HBRU with respect to rep rugby is deafening. Nothing in the media, either. These are the games I've been able to find via other unions' websites:

    Saturday 25 September 2021:

    Wellington U19 v Hawke's Bay U19 - 12.00pm @ Lyndhurst Park (Tawa)
    Manawatū U18 v Hawke's Bay Saracens U18 - 12.00pm @ CET Arena field 4 (Palmerston North)
    Hawke's Bay U18 Girls v Manawatū U18 Girls - 2.30pm @ Waitahanui

    Sunday 26 September 2021 - U16 pre-tournament round (division A):
    Wairarapa-Bush U16 v Hawke's Bay U16 - 1.00pm @ Eketahuna

    Whanganui U16 v Hawke's Bay U16 dev team (div B ) - preseason game

Rep games, this weekend (2-3 October 2021):

    HB U19 v Hurricanes Heartland U20 - HBRU Field - 12.00pm
HB Saracens v Taranaki Dev - Tremain Field - 1.00pm
    HB Saracens U18 v Wellington Centurions U18 - Tremain Field - 2.30pm - livestream: https://sideline.live/play/16428

    Hurricanes U16 Tournament
    Div A: HB U16 v Manawatū U16 - Tremain Field - 12.00pm - livestream: https://sideline.live/play/16427
    Div B: HB U16 Dev v Wellington U16 Dev - Lincoln Park, Ashhurst - 1.00pm

I don't know what the rules for development teams are, but with the Magpies having a bye this weekend, I hope some of them will get a run for the Saracens. Don't want them to be undercooked for the Ta$man game, next week. Flanders is an example; MMT and Makene ... Kereru-Symes and Bryn Evans if they're ready to play.

A really bad year for our U19s; they've lost all their games, except their preseason game against an average Wai-Bush Baabaas team. With this year's squad, I'm not surprised. Based on what I've seen during their 1st XV days and for Hurricanes U20s and/or HB Academy, I rate some of the players, particularly Harry Godfrey, Jayden Stok and Carlos Kemp; maybe Andrew Hayward, Mitch Curran and Will Robinson, but the majority have never stood out for me. It's not good for our Academy.

Hopefully, the best of this year's school leavers will be on Academy contracts for next year. I assume several of them played for this week's U18s (the best weren't available for the previous games). I just wish the HBRU published the names of the rep squads, particularly the HB Saracens and HB Saracens U18. The media don't seem interested in rep rugby either. Frustrating if you try to follow certain players and can't go to games.

Was wondering how the combined Nelson Bays/Marlborough outfit got away with stooping to contracting in players (including one that might have even actually played for a Heartland team earlier this season) from other provinces when things got a bit rough for them on the injury front. Had a brief look through this https://www.nzrugby.co.nz/assets/2021-Competitions-Regulations-Handbook-June.pdf to check out whether the still rancorious three week residential period was still required for players to be eligible to take part in a shield match. Couldn't see it at first glance but it might still be in there somewhere amongst the 109 pages covering interprovincial matches. Will take a closer look at the transferring of players regulations situation when I have a bit more time later. Clause 4.1 (f) (ii) with reference back to the Five Games Loan Players (excluding Front Row Players) definition on page three of the document looks to be a good starting point if anyone is prepared to do the Sherlock Holmes sleuthing work.
