Worst weekend of footy all year.

The Suns are the only fucking highlight, otherwise completely to script with no good games

    speak for yourself

Qld had a good couple of weeks invading the SCG...

2022 claims its first coach, probably 2 years too late

Leon Cameron is out at GWS. Wasn't to be offered an extension, so he quit. Will coach this weekend

Yes, got them to a GF (where they got pumped) and they had a run of being around the top of the table. And yes, they have lost players back to Melbourne.

But they have underperformed with what is still a good list, and this absolutely had to happen.

@mariner4life two prelims and one GF in 3 of the last 4 years - that’s not bad.

I don’t buy too much into the whole Ferrari talk, sure they had some really talented players, but I don’t think it was so far ahead of several other teams.

But definitely time for fresh ideas and new coach(es)

agree totally. Especially now. But they had some very nice pieces there and always seemed less than the sum of their parts

Doesn't help that their talisman can't stay on the field.

The Suns for the 2nd weekend in a row with the big upset.

Some concerning scores, with the WA teams unable to crack 40, the Bombers and North unable to crack 50, and the Pies only getting 51

The Saints with a big 3rd term to beat the Cats was good too.

We looked terrible in the first half and probably should’ve been down more. But we got a roll on in pretty quick time in the third, started to kick straight and never looked back. We tend to lose those sort of games.

Feels like the gap between good teams and bad teams is wider than it's been in a long time. West Coast and North are genuinely horrible, and Adelaide, Essendon and GWS are all surprisingly shithouse.

At the moment it's Melbourne ahead of Brisbane and then a gap to the rest. Freo and Carlton look decent but I'm not sure you can really trust either of them. You could make a case for Richmond, Geelong, Sydney and St Kilda but they are all so hot and cold. Then you've got the Gold Coast, Port and the Bulldogs who may or may not make a run.

There is a feeling that they are all competing for the minor placings though. The Dees look unstoppable.

agree with all of that. Dees have the perfect blend on every line at the moment, and they are big, so can handle robust footy every week.

Lions have good forwards, pretty good defenders, and a pretty handy midfield. But i feel like in a big final Melbourne will beat us up.

Some of the teams at the bottom are just atrocious.

I wouldn’t have called the Suns win an upset, they have been reasonably decent and can’t remember the Dockers playing in wet conditions like that. Could be a tough few weeks ahead for Freo

ah, 1 team was 3rd on the back of 7 straight

the other was the GC Suns

    That's an upset.

No way that many would’ve picked the Suns. l like the Suns and have said so on this thread, but Freo have been playing pretty well and have had a couple of quality wins against the Blues and Geelong. Footy players know all conditions so I don’t think it was that. More they couldn’t generate any quick ball off halfback which is something they (and several other teams) rely on.

What a second half by Freo. Huge win against the Dees at the G.

The hit the 50/50 balls with far more effort than the Dees. Then backed it up with some straight kicking.

A nomination for goal of the year with a sweet no look flick back by Frederick and snap by Shultz.

    strange old season

Melbourne have the loss they probably needed to refocus, it had all been coming a bit easy
Freo looked cooked 6 days ago, suddenly people are bullish again
St Kilda are in the top 4, and seem to be doing what you expect good teams to do, beat the shit ones.

There are some ordinary football teams around though.

jeez...swans have gone from being up and down from game to game to up and down from minute to minute!

buddy probably needs a rest so a ban isn;t the end of the world...although would probably rather have him next week....dont have high hopes

also, just quietly, the Suns have played 7 of the top 8 in their first 11 games and have gone about getting 5 wins and a percentage over 100.

If, and i realise how big an if it is, they can keep their form up, given their draw in the 2nd half of the year, they are not without hope of sneaking in to 8th.

    well, interesting fortnight

Melbourne without Stephen May = Carlton

The death of Freo's season was called a bit early

    Sydney are back

Gold Coast are a win outside the 8.

I have not changed my thoughts on Brisbane from last season. I think, without a coaching change, we are a good looking regular season side who cannot handle the pressure enough to ever win anything. Our vaunted midfield gets beaten too often despite a couple of champion players. Our backline misfires too often. Forwards are good, but Hipwood right now cannot be the #1 tall. I predict a top 4 finish with a big percentage, and then a rubbish finals campaign. Again.

West Coast, North Melbourne, and Essendon are barely AFL standard.

@mariner4life big game coming this weekend Saints vs Lions. Up at the Gabba, will be a big test for my boys. Hopefully it’s good conditions so Max King can do his thing.
