I just ran 4 miles through the hills of Mornington, Dunedin. Holy crap, there are some challenging hills around here, and it makes distance running seriously hard work. Nice though. Do any of you guys face the challenge here regularly? It is good fitness, that's for sure. I'm off to Central Otago in a few days, and plan on taking on some mountain trials while I'm there. I believe the correct term would be hard yakka.

I went to Uni in Dunedin, and rode a racing bicycle around the hills on the penninsular and over to Mosgiel frequently. I also ran the same routes, as well as out to Port Chalmers and to St Kilda for short runs. Stunning place, and great air. Dunedin has a lot of great runners, there's some good races around the hills too. I found this for you, maybe too late?
Just back from NZ, but really enjoyed those hills in Dunedin, particularly Stone Street. After Dunedin we headed to Clyde, which had some amazing mountain trails with very steep inclines. I've been to Central Otago many times, but this is the first time I've run the trails in the area. Good stuff.

About the only time I enjoy running is trails / hills / bush tracks. Anything else sucks!

Been in dunedin for a couple of months now,
live central dunedin way, jog up and around mornington in like a zigzag of the hills before coming down to the city, underestimating when you see it but when getting started on your first week of mornings it certainly can work you.

What streets in Mornington, FW? There's plenty of hills around there to keep you honest - I hope you don't put yourself through the pain of the steps from Glenpark Avenue to Mailer Street!

I believe the one that I ran up was Stone Street. Starting from the bottom at Kaikorai Valley Road then all the way to the top. What a bitch that was.
