Great to hear Muss. You given up the ''stress sticks'' yet????

Agree with some of the advice above. If you do take some time off training then make sure you put in place some sort of strategy to keep your balanced diet going. The mind does get used to training and eating right. So take extra steps to get you through it

    Yep....

Actually started the exercise to help convince myself that I didn't really want a smoke.

Got a bit sick last year (Bad cold/flue) and quit for a week as coughing and smoking don't mix when your throat is as sensitive as a ...<add something really sensitive here> ... decided to stay off but needed to remind the lungs why so started a bit of lunch time running/jogging with a F&^% great hill in the middle to climb for the lungs sake. Next thing I know the weight starts falling off (and legs as well with Heel spurs and dodgy knees) so adjusted the diet and decided to give it a proper crack. Jogs dropped to a walk while the legs and feet got used to it (still reckon most of the weight loss is just my feet waring away).

Only had 2 cigs this year (still have three unopened packets) both back in Feb when I was having a little drink or two.

Will be reweighing myself again this weekend and fingers crossed will have dropped some more, otherwise I'll revert to plan B (Not soo sure what plan B is yet, the "take a week off" one that davidav suggests appeals for some reason, I always thought just thinking of doing exersise was enough to "shock the body")

Asked the Wife what weight I should be aiming for and she reminded me I was 88 in my playing days, think that could be stretching the realms of possibility but after seeing that Barts got down under that level... well who knows, but somehow I don't think Don has to worry about me wanting to join his team.

Under 90s hell under 100s (or just 100) would be fantastic in my book.

I'm 6'2-3" (just under 1.9) so getting down to your weight Bart would probably require amputation.... although ... one of my legs is playing up so that is a distinct possibility.

I try to only weigh myself once every 2-3 weeks because weight isn't supposed to be the aim of the game. However it's hard not to be as pleased when the scales show a significant and dramatic loss. Planning to have a hair cut next weekend as well so that should help... xzxsarcastic (least I still have that option unlike some I notice. eusa_whistle )

Should have measured the waist as that is shrinking surprisingly quickly (already dropped a size... maybe even 2) but didn't think of doing that at the time, even the first weigh was a couple of weeks after I'd started.

Mainlander I'm the same height as you ( more than 6 ft 2 but probably despite what I want to believe a smidge under 6 ft 3 ) and 88kg at that height to me does look a bit too slim for my liking despite BMI readings and all of that shit. Last time I was there was in 2004, I managed to get down to 86kg actually, not sure exactly how I did it as I was drinking and socialising heavily but forgetting to eat probably was a factor ! Just weighed in at 100.5kg the other day which if I'm honest is on the upper end of the acceptable scale I think 96-98kg would be better for me.

Well I've lost some more. Another 3kg over the last three weeks.

So the 1.5 kg a week looks like it's over but after a few weeks of not losing any the 1kg a week is better than nothing.

I was really hoping to have broken the 25kg loss barrier but 23 is still good I suppose.

Next weigh in is another three weeks away... (well 2.5 now) so if I keep at the 1kg a week and hit 26kg loss I'll be pleased.

Talked over my weight aim with the wife and she agreed that an 88 maybe over the top and might not have been my weight during my playing days.

All I can recall was I weighed in one year at exactly 16 stone. (it was an old scale and was converted at the time), however the 16 stone stayed in my memory so looked that up the other day and it came out as 101kg. A much more realistic target in my humble opinion. Still that's away off yet and am just going to concentrate on 5kg blocks. After I break the 25kg loss barrier I start concentrating on the 30kg barrier.

So Bart have you and Don decided if you're to be started from the bench or the starting 15 yet. ?
Personally I'd look at starting you, then running you until you drop before replacing you. You reckon you'll make the 20th minute mark?

Oh, and I never thought I would EVER say this (must be my Scottish blood), but I WOULD recommend a personal trainier. Not for the workouts, but to set your diet and a monthly weigh in - that is what me and the Mrs have done, and it works a treat. Eat what she says when she says, train what she says when she says. Takes all the guess work out etc, is brilliant and easy!!

Anotn Oliver was interviewed recently and talked about not worrying about set Goals anymore but focussing on following a by a set of good values instead. Obviously it doesnt apply if you want to be 100kgs and 3% bodyfat. But it makes sense to me. If I want to lose weight the way to do it is not to stress about losing x kgs in x days. But instead choose a variety of exercise options that I enjoy and eat within sensible guidelines. That way I will be healthier, happier and have a better long term lifestyle without placing undue pressure on myself. Does that make sense or am I turning into a greenie?

Oliver is just being Oliver - weird and verbose! And you are turning into a hippie.

I agree though, when not on this programme, I eat what I want when I want and train liek a demon to burn the calories. ANd I train like mad because I enjoy it, so no goals, just calues (did he really say that FFS!!)...

Been trying to tell the Wife that, she's Kiyaking (fucked the spelling of that didn't I) Bike riding, running walking Les Mills etc... doing two or three of them each day and yet stressing out because she put on a Kilo last week or worring weather she's doing enough. She's become a fitness junkee but can't see that she's becaome addicted even though the rest of us think she is.

Personally I'm trying to keep it simple and most importantly enjoyable. From dropping a Kilo and a half a week I dropped to about 3/4 of a kilo but have picked up to the recommended 1 kilo a week in the last couple of weeks, dispite actually being a bit slack. I don't worry if I sneak some food I shouldn't but I do try to keep it just to a taste (and don't always suceed) but life is too short to go without some of the things that make it worth living like Beer and Pudd.

I've currently dropped 27 Kilos and my new target is 30..... I've desided to keep the targets low. Do it 5 kilos at a time. The important thing is my Knees and heel seemed to be getting better although after finally getting to my doc last week and being sent for some X-rays (and blood tests etc.... It'd been two years and he wanted his monies worth) he believes I might need an op so is sending me to a specialist. (3 Specialists actually, one for the knee, one for carpel Tannel a one for the heel spur.) He tryed to send me to the Carpel Tunnel one (however thats spelled) 2 years ago but I never went so got a bullicking on that and promiced I'd get it down this time.... He must think I'm made of money.

I can now remove my trouses without undoing the belt (which is on max) or undoing any buttons or the fly (provided I don't have a hard on) and these are a pair that were too small six months ago. All my shirts are like tents and I'm rewearing cloths I'd given up wearing. However I'm also getting soft.... Bloody Canberra is so cold now that I've lost a lot of the boddy fat that used to keep me warm and Brisbane isn't much better once the sun has set. Have had to start wearing my leather jacket when on the moterbike. Becoming a real sook.

PS like the new name Bart but you should change the B to a W remembering the Moari pronciation.
