    Good to see that the Sharks provided a much tougher test than WP. Hammett said these first two games were about giving everyone an opportunity, as the reserves from game 1 started and mass changes to the forward pack were made at HT. NZ dominated the scrums but didn't get any reward from the ref. The lineout functioned well in difficult windy conditions.

    At least the NZ defence was tested although they won't be happy with the missed tackles leading to the Sharks tries.

    @Bovidae

    How do you think we will go against the u19 boks?

    My expectation is that we will be a little underpowered when we match up against them. Which has been the case in age grade match ups for a while.

    Surprised that have put such big scores on these sides but of course we never know the strength or preparedness of opposition.

    @DaGrubster The WP and Sharks teams were scratch teams with 3-4 days preparation, so you can't read too much into the scores.

    Obviously a SA U19 team would be much stronger, particularly in the forwards, so that would be a completely different test. Hammett's comments indicate NZ wanted to play the SA U19s but that didn't happen. This tour is just to provide competitive games and a tour experience for the young players who missed out due to covid. The performance of the NZ U20s at the WC next year will tell us how beneficial this tour was.

    @Bovidae

    Ah ok, didn’t realise there wasn’t a match with SA U19 during the tour.

    Smart move to send U19 side in preparation for next years U20 tournament (which I assume starts up again in 2023?)

    Our u20s was unbeaten in the 6 Nations Summer Series. SA Schools (u18) played against England and France u19s.

    It's our schools end exams currently and the reason for these scrambling teams.

    @SBW1 tomorrow's match is against the Leopards u19s. Understand that they are longer together and a good tight 5 probably most playing for Uni of North West (Pukke) young guns in the Varsity Cup.
    One interesting fact is that Ardi Viljoen and Leopards nr 8 Eben Versters dads were Western Province scrumhalves during the last All Blacks tour in 1996. Pretty sure they,ll have a cold one together.

    Officiating very one-sided in this game. Only one team gets penalised (NZ obviously). NZ now playing with 2 players in the bin.

    LOL, commentator saying Leopards are winning the psychological battle because they keep the NZU19s from scoring. I think he's forgetting NZ just had two players in the bin and the Leopards didn't manage to score at all and have been under pressure all that time.

    NZ's frontrow got dominated in the scrum and maul in the first half; since the new frontrow came on at the beginning of the 2nd half (and a few other forwards were substituted), the tide has turned. NZ now dominating.

    Don't know who the NZ player was, who left that gap in the defence, but that was really poor. Good try to the Leopards.

    Good performance by the Mielie Boers. Their senior side play CC 1st division but Pukke (University) is one of the top sides in Varsity Cup.

    This experience will be exactly what's needed for your u19s.

    Last time NZ toured in Potch was when Jonah Lomu played in 1996.

    Playing in this country sides is not easy for any team.

    Good to watch a game where the opponent was good and gave decent opposition, although I think the score is flattering the South Africans a bit. The NZU19s will learn much more from this game than the previous games.

    A clear difference between starting and 2nd half pack (which came on before the Leopards started making changes). Second half pack much better and stronger (set piece).

    Ajay Faleafaga is a great player. A real prospect.
