Spain really pushed the USA in this game.
    USA 15 - 14 Spain

This NZ team really lacks pace - even more so than usual.

Nothing to see there. Head against shoulder. No head clash. Play on.

That's bs. There was no head contact.

Edit: different camera angle. Double head against shoulder. Correct yellow.

@KiwiMurph The only reason he got yellow and the Samoan player didn't, is the fact that the Samoan player had the ball. I know it's what the laws are now, but it just doesn't seem fair.

Come on NZ! This may be the first game of the tournament, but it's a must-win with Australia in the same pool.

So what's the deal - Laidlaw refusing to clear our dead wood? The balance seems way wrong in this squad

@KiwiMurph But are the new guys good enough to replace them? I have my doubts.

I think we can already say goodbye to the Quarter Finals. This team won't beat Australia.

17 - 0 to Samoa with less than 30 seconds to play and a man in the bin.

Yeah i hear you - for example every time I see Moses Leo play he is really really loose/wild in his play - all over the shop

@KiwiMurph And it doesn't help that someone like Tangitau is now going to SR.

Moses Leo was a candidate for worst ever performance by a kiwi in a sevens match. His early missed tackles really took the pressure of Samoa before the card. He has pace but all round game has always been a bit too loose.
Strange call to start with some of our strongest players on the bench against Samoa.

How bad was McGarvey-Black. Blew a 3 on 1 overlap in the first half and then just made dumb decisions thereafter.

Earlier this evening, the AB7s beat Hong Kong 38 - 14.

    For perspective:
The Aussies beat Hong Kong 43 - 0.

    BUT

The Aussies also lost to Samoa!!! (17 - 22)

So suddenly, this NZ v Aussie match is really important. Kick-off 11.03pm.
