17 - 0 to Samoa with less than 30 seconds to play and a man in the bin.

@Stargazer said in 2023 World Sevens Series:

@KiwiMurph But are the new guys good enough to replace them? I have my doubts.

Yeah i hear you - for example every time I see Moses Leo play he is really really loose/wild in his play - all over the shop

@KiwiMurph And it doesn't help that someone like Tangitau is now going to SR.

Moses Leo was a candidate for worst ever performance by a kiwi in a sevens match. His early missed tackles really took the pressure of Samoa before the card. He has pace but all round game has always been a bit too loose.
Strange call to start with some of our strongest players on the bench against Samoa.

How bad was McGarvey-Black. Blew a 3 on 1 overlap in the first half and then just made dumb decisions thereafter.

Earlier this evening, the AB7s beat Hong Kong 38 - 14.

    For perspective:
The Aussies beat Hong Kong 43 - 0.

    BUT

The Aussies also lost to Samoa!!! (17 - 22)

So suddenly, this NZ v Aussie match is really important. Kick-off 11.03pm.

That's the best possible answer. Great team try, Moses Leo.

Okay, I call it now. We'll lose this one, too. Out of the Cup.

Give this team three legs of the Series and if they don't improve. Start culling and bring in development players.

@Steven-Harris We look incredibly slow. Snail's pace compared to the Aussies and Samoans.
