I feel Norths are trying to steal our draft picks

I'd celebrate, but it's only North Melbourne.

the hawks might be rubbish but that was pretty ruthless from the swannies...basically coasting the final quarter

At this stage the flag winner will come from Geelong, either of the Sydney teams, and maybe Carlton or Melbourne. No one else has the game to beat these 5 teams.
Everyone else is seriously flawed and making up the numbers

i know there have been grand finals with two interstate teams (Sydney v West Coast)...but it would be interesting if there was two sydney teams that made the final

when its really a sign the draft works, sydney were 15th and 16th in 2019 and 2020....GWS 15th in 2022...so have used their draft picks well

I don't think there's the same level of negative feeling about GWS that there was in 2019.

Their bulk draft picks have come and gone (to other clubs, in many cases) and this team has ridden out a very brief down cycle and emerged better. They've recruited smartly with guys like Jesse Hogan and developed later round picks like Tom Green.

I recall before the GF in 2019 there was plenty of talk about a hollow win if they got up, but I can't imagine any of that would be replicated this year. They are seen as gritty underdogs now.

this comp is even weirder than the NRL

This weekend Carlton, Geelong and GWS lost. Port also lost but i didn't see them as a contender.
Of the "maybe we can sneak the 8" crew the Suns and the Bulldogs had embarrassing losses

Essendon currently sit in the falsest 5th you've ever seen, they have had the softest draw to start you could possibly imagine.

Apparently Sydney are the only team that wants to be good.

Geelong lost at home to the going nowhere Port
GWS lost to the going nowhere Bombers
Melbourne gave to big a start to Carlton and couldn't run them down
Brisbane and Adelaide sort of fucked each others seasons by drawing.

The bottom of the table is awful, and yet somehow St Kilda lost to Hawthorn.

Looking at the 8 now, i can't see any other team forcing their way in

Sydney looked good but Freo were clearly a bit off. Given the situation with their ex-player passing away the night before that's pretty understandable.

Carlton vs Sydney this week looms as a cracker.

    absolute meme round

Gold Coast flog the fuck out of the previously flying Geelong
Sydney hammer "premisership favourites" Carlton and drop them out of the 8
Collingwood win ANOTHER single score game
GWS have completely fallen in a hole
The less said about St Kilda v Freo the better. How's that Ross Lyon hire looking Saints fans?
The Lions torch Richmond, and Joe Daniher kicks the last shot out on the full just to troll Port fans
    Essendon are 2nd??? WTF?
Port score 2 goals in the last few seconds to beat Hawthorn
Then West Coast beat Melbourne, and it appears Harley Reid is quite good at the footballs

So, Sydney are good, everyone else is very flawed.

A word, if i may, on the absolute state of football commentary in this sport. If you are a fan of a team that isn't from Victoria, it is very, very apparent that the commentators, most especially the Ch7 guys, resent the fact you even exist.

If your Victorian team, especially a big one, is getting flogged by an out of state team, the commentary is like a funeral. And do no expect them to talk about how good your team has gone, it will be focused on the shit house Victorian outfit. Carlton were flogged on Friday, but all BT wanted to do was talk about them, and what they have to do (i am surprised he didn't say they were still in it). Richmond got absolutely fucking hosed on Saturday, but it was all about the positives for them coming out of it. I wonder what West Coast fans felt about that after the shit that got thrown at them last year?

We get it, most Victorian fans would be very happy to just go back to the VFL and have their little private party. But this is the national broadcaster, on FTA TV. Do better.
