Fitted into the suit nicely 😁, although we were given a too small waist coat which neither groomsmen could fit but i could!

    Saturday

Headed out to Shakespear Park to try out one of their walking tracks. The weather wasnt flash so we gave the longer 2 hour ones a miss and tried out the lesser 1 hour round walk which appeared to involve the best scenery as well.
As it was the walk only took us 45 mins and involved a couple of hill climbs. Amazing views over towards the city and North Shore. Took along the cam and took some damn nice pics too.

Virgil, as something of a pedal-pusher, what do you do on the exercise bike? Intervals or steady, how high's the resistance, what's the cadence (RPM)? I ride my bike on the road, but have a go in the gym too, but get bored as batshit unless I do intervals. What do you reckon? Souind like yyou're getting some decent results.

Ive never done anything to special, i should now as its been 3 months since i began. I normally do a hard out 30 min ride though i have done the odd slower 45-60 min but i find that hard has my ass goes numb!

It can get a bit boring at times so ive started taking long walks again but i have been impressed by the results on the bike, certainly i think a great way to get fit and improve your cardio. Was originally going to get a normal 'real' bike but its limiting to where and when you can ride.

    Brisk 40 min walk today.
At the moment feel its best to mix it up with walking and using the cycle.

Definitely - relying on the bike alone will move you into a comfort zone. I'd take up cyclopath's suggestion and use the "fatburning" options on the bike which are designed to make you work harder. If you pedal at a steady rate your lungs quickly find their rhythm, and you need to break it up a bit.

    'Zactly, Nick.
I used to race my bike on Saturdays, and the race was 30km over a 2 km criterium course. I could only train 2 days a week apart from race day usually, and lots of guys in the grade were riding daily. Difference - I rode 40 km each time doing intervals, they mostly rode steady 50-80 km rides. I was surprised at the improvement I got relative to others of similar age / lack of talent etc... Basically the intervals are ideal for that sort of race. Doing the walks in between cycles is a similar process - different muscle fibre types used etc... In the same way I rode better when I was playing squash too. Still, Virgil, you're punching out some good numbers so you must be going allright!

Yeah its easy to get into a routine which is why i went back to walking, which previously i had found boring!.
With it being winter i know there arent going to be many days where you want to go outside so we have the mindset if its good lets walk,if its crap lets ride!

But yep i should start cranking the dial in the bike and make things tougher.

After a lazy weekend it was back onto the bike, this time i added a bit of tension into the ride and wound the dial around a couple of times. Fark the legs are going to be stiff come tomorrow <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
