Finalised Teams
-
Ok all. Time to stop arguing and for one person to finalise each team for the virtual comp
XV players only.
If no one has decided the final team I will do so (and I won't necessarily be nice)
If you want to claim a player that someone else could have first dibs on it will be handy to state a backup. Otherwise decision will be first Union played for and a replacement will be taken from comments.I have done a draw. This will be a knockout comp with the draw redone randomly each round.
There are some interesting matchups first up and some strong teams run the risk of an early departure. -
@Crucial Because I haven't kept up with all the rule changes are we limiting our teams to just the NPC era?

Lazy Fecker. Read the 'How it works' thread.
@Crucial said in Your Ultimate NPC Team - A virtual comp. How it works:
Seeing as how most have taken the title literally, despite the idea that you can include older players (but need to justify how they would go), and because of whinging about poaching I'm making these changes/clarifications.
NPC era players only.
Deciding factor is first province.
You can still try and claim a player that played with you as second union. It is only if first union also claims them that you will lose out.No 1920s guys for you

We're out in the first round ... if we could include 1920s/1960s players we'd be battling it out with Auckalnd and Canterbury for the title.
-
@Crucial How many teams are there in total? I assume the Vikings won't be participating?

don't see why not, it's Hawkes Bay's best chance of competing
-
@mariner4life That makes 15 teams (I think) so I suppose one team gets a bye in the 1st round.

two team, including the one that is playing Southland

If the Tasman Invitational XV get to participate then why can't the Vikings Invitational XV? I've already selected the team - 14 Magpies and Christian Cullen.
They can roll the Steamers in the first round like the 3 times they did in their short existence.

One lucky team will get a free pass bye in the second round

you're right, Aaron Smith probably won't make it at halfback over everyone's favourite HB halfback...
-
@Nepia They might beat your lot too if you give the Vikings all your players.

He can't hold a candle to Chris Eaton ... but I was limiting selection of the Vikings to players who actually played for the Vikings, so unfortunately both those two superstars miss out.
-
A option is to leave Southland out and do the bye in the first round as suggested
-
@Crucial said in Finalise Team by NZT Midday 3/9:
leave Southland out
wow.
At least i was joking.
How plastic is this comp?
-
I am sure we can collectively select a Southland team.

Hmm, good point, the Vikings can have all the Poo players (but they may struggle to get 15).
-
There's no Vikings. End of.

OK.
-
I will start posting teams below.
Not too many where I had to shift players but from memory..
Canterbury lost Rangi to Tasman's credit card. They get Deans instead so they have someone to blame
Waikato lose Robinson to Taranaki because Naki lost Eaton to Manawatu. Gibbes is in according to the first line up
Waikato also had to have Foster at 10 as their first two choices belonged elsewhere. -
-
@Crucial I had made some last minute amendments to our team (prior to this post
)
Obviously if too late, all good (I mean if Hansen could name his team whenever, surely we can too)

Team namings are Thursdays not Fridays. You should know this
-
@Crucial pfft, is that even a thing?
-
-
As I was appointed the Waikato manager I always had Holah and DMac starting.
-
@Crucial and I had changed Taylor/Maxwell on Thursday...Johnston pulled up lame at training today.
-
It was up to you 'managers to make it clear. Some of the threads were a shambles to interpret.
@Bovidae you bracketed Monkley and Holah and most others had mentioned Monkley as their preferred (even hough he's a bit short). You also kept selecting players from other unions.
I'll make these last changes then, not that it will matter..

Can you put one clear list in your thread and I will adjust. Thanks
-
@Crucial No, I wrote the players in order of preference for those positions.

You do realise that not selecting Monkley will lead to years of whinging from other Waikato fans
-
-
I did say I would be excluding some of my favourite players and Duane was one of them. No time for sentiment.
-
-
@Crucial dont suppose it matters, but a few teams dont seem to have been named in numerical order (line 11 - Laumape for Man, DC for Canterbury, Alatini for Southland whereas rest have wingers in line 11)
-

Canterbury wanted Mehrtens and DC on the field and put DC at 12
But yeah, Laumape is in the wrong spot on the list. NMS is at 11 (or Tikoirotuma)
-
There were a couple of changes to the Auck team. Itβs in my last post of the thread
-
@Crucial yeah thats what I mean, DC is on the same line as Rupeni, whereas DC would be line 12...again, not that it matters, you are learning the joys of being a mod
-
The Final Finalised Teams.
(probably until @Nepia wakes up) -
@crucial He will probably want Fotuali'i in at halfback for HB and give them Mike Coman back in return!
