    gidday sports fans.

Super rugby is in to it's 2nd weekend
The NRL is under way, which means

it's only two weeks until the AFL season

And as you all know, preseason results provide a great preview of what to expect so...

All lions fans should be book hotels in Melbourne for the last weekend in September

and Saints will get the spoon

@mariner4life Cannot wait. Actually looks pretty accurate. Lions do look stacked with this Will Ashcroft lad coming in and Gunston up front. Saints just don’t have enough dudes.

Hopefully Dusty sticks around this season.

Was nice to see us kick straight for a change. But we are dropping like flies and come round 1 Ross will probably have to throw some kids into the deep end.

I’m not counting out the Kangaroos having another mare of a season just yet, but we will be down there with them I reckon.

    Without being that guy

Getting pumped in a GF isn't usually followed by another good season

    FIFY

im honestly basing this on, the swans didn't fluke their way into a final or cobble together a late season push to just making the playoffs and get pumped, theyve been building for a few years, pretty young squad with the obvious exceptions...we should be able to build on last year

dont you fucking take this away from me, checking scores every weekend and just seeing losses is not fun

Cracking start to the season. Brutal game, lacking in skill at times but never lacking in intensity.

As a Carlton fan I will take two points. We could have won, but I actually thought Richmond were the better team (stats back that up) so we did really well to stifle them at key moments.

big crowd, THAT is how you kick off a season...pure guess work but the AFL could have mae more money in one game than SR will make for a whole round....

The “rolling maul” seemed to be back last night. Yes it was game 1, big stage, big crowd and massive build up with the start of a new season, but I didn’t like what I saw for the most part. I had flashbacks to a few years ago when I turned most games off at quarter time because the game had become so congested and players didn’t want to take possession of the ball.

Let’s see how the Pies and Cats go tonight

A massive crowd and amazing atmosphere like last night, but the quality level is several notches up. The ball is moving fast but the execution and scoring has been top drawer.

    Bit of feeling too.

@mariner4life yeah, watching it you knew something bad would result. He was in massive pain lying on the ground.

Last few minutes of the 3rd and then the 4th, the Pies were all over them. A ‘famous’ victory….

    Round 1: The lolz

Carlton and Richmond draw a shit game
    Collingwood looked fucking good
Fuck you Brisbane you hope-giving pretenders, you are still weak as piss
I picked North to win, but both those teams suck
    Melbourne yes, Bulldogs no
Ouchy Gold Coast, Sydney to warm @Kiwiwomble 's cold southern heart
    GWS good start
Hawthorn have a long season ahead of them
Death, taxes, a Ross Lyon coaches side winning a dour shitfight

I reckon Port and Collingwood were the standouts of round 1.

Alarm bells for Gold Coast and maybe Brisbane (but I wouldn't overreact).

Other than that the good teams were good and the shit teams were shit.

it's not an overreaction when it's a continuation of previous problems. There is a core problem there and teams can just overwhelm us. our team defence and ability to halt momentum is still a serious weakness.
